I'm ex directory and registered with the TPS service and I still get at least 5 or 6 nuisance calls a day very irritating! I might have a looksee at that callblocker, what exactly is it/does it do? Edit: had a quick look at it, I think I might get one of those for my house phone but I've got no idea how to stop the calls on my mobile, the TPS service certainly doesn't work for it ???

I either talk to them in Spanish, which normally prompts them to hang up pretty sharpish, or I've found saying." How did you get my number?....I am on the opt out list, so you have no business calling me........now f**k off & don't ever call this number again....Would you like that in Hindu also?" Goodbye...............................The End

Best sonic device to use is in fact a dog whistle. Most of us can't hear it but telephone equipment will try to pick it up and it ends up being audible at the other end.

I had one call saying they were from Windows Support and that I had a virus on my computer. I knew it was a scam and just said that there was nothing wrong with my windows........... they were all still attached to the house and put the phone down He called back 2 mins later, swearing at me............. so I said that I would just get my husband who is Police Officer to come and speak to him as he obviously didnt believe me that our windows were in place He soon terminanted the call after that

Ah, the Windows support calls I do have fun with, I work in IT and have a laptop, a desktop and a tablet PC, so when I get those calls, I keep on asking them which computer, to which I've never yet had an answer. Their script doesn't seem to be able to cope with that one . Well, it keeps me amused and stops some other poor person from being bothered! The PPI/insulation ones I tell them that I've already claimed or that I've been assessed in the past week and found to have enough insulation (that bit's true) and to please stop calling me. Funny how those calls have dropped off it recent weeks.

When I had a landline I only used it for internet, so never bothered to answer it. Simple. Anyone who knows me has my mobile number. Now I don't even have one.

The TPS won't accept my mobile number, but it says that you can register mobile numbers ??? I registered my mobile number, it didn't work though still get loads of calls each day. My phone is constantly on silent lol I end up missing the important calls as I don't realise it's rang but it's the only way I can get a bit of peace. If I'm getting particularly annoyed by them, I sometimes answer and just continually blow into the microphone till they hang up I'm not paying for it so it doesn't bother me lol it just winds them up

I have my answerphone set to ring only twice before my message clicks in. I believe the cold callers have to pay for the call. I can hear if it's a genuine call when I hear their voice and can answer and have a chat!!! When I've been out, I check the answerphone on return - the cold caller ones say 'did not leave a number'. Hope this makes sense!! MMa

I've had the windows call once. I am also work in IT (for over 20 years), but own Macs at home. Led them the merry dance, and then when I asked which Mac had the virus, they got the clue...
Still - I'm ex-directory, and never give out my home number - so someone has...I'd be interested to know who exactly...
