Pick up both 0.15 or 0.16 nichrome (resistance) and nickel or silver wire (no resistance) and you can make coils better than the original..

Wires.co.uk were selling kanthal, managed to get a spool of 10m 0.16 last week, I guess they sold out

Do you, when you join the 2 bits of wire, wrap it over the wick at each side of the resistance wire and then pull down to make the legs?

Remember though that when making a coil for the nova/vision attie you need to make the pig tails about half the length of the ones in the video, reason being that there isn't the same amount of clearance as there is inside an odysseus. Personally I use .15 guage wire for the resistance in order to keep things as short as possible. I can get a 2ohm coil from about 3cm of wire.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in on this thread but what difference does the guage of the wire make ?
also why is it better when you have rewicked and recoiled yourself compared to buying new ?

The simple answer to that is the different thicknesses of wire have different amounts of resistance.
Thinner wire tends to be of a lower resistance and therefor you need less of it to make a coil- ideal for things like visions where space is limited
thicker wire has a higher resistance and therefor you can uase more if it to create the same ohm coil but with a few more turns around the wick which is ideal for rebuildables with a larger chamber.

When you re-wick and coil yourself it allows you to make the wicks as long or as short as you prefer and allows you to make a coil that's the exact resistance for you.

Small enclosed spaces for coil thinner wire..Larger rebuildables thicker wire..

The reason I said it would be better than the original is you can wire in no resistance wire unlike the original and basically prevent vaping plastic.

0.15 Nichrome..Yes

Kanthal has a higher resistance than nichrome and comes in three forms..A1, A & D in the order of decreasing resistance per meter, but all will have higher resistance than nichrome. So you can use a slightly thicker wire if you buy Kanthal..
