I was in an (unnamed) e-cig shop/business today, a guy turns up after me, knows nothing, but interested. The staff show him zip, nothing, "what do you want" kind of thing, "what's in the cases is what we have, what do you want?" I tried to explain a little bit, but with 10 minutes input he could have been a vapour for life, I was running a bit late and tbh although I could have shown him what he needed and helped him get the best kit for him, I was feeling a little unnerved being watched by the staff member and they should have been giving him things to try not me. I'm sure not all shops are like this, I'm sure not many are. It just got my goat, I should have told him about this forum, I'm still kicking myself.

My first encounter, although on the phone with an un-named e-cig shop, almost put me off for life, not interested in the trial I had with the 10motives, wasn't interested in what I thought I wanted and what I had seen. Listed a few kits and starters for about £80+ and told me to order via their website. The I found Vape-Escape - then this forum, then found that it can be quite costly keeping all these suppliers and e-liquid companies happy I'm lucky, as I only had the net / forums - and made a good choice in calling Jason, but I wonder how many slip away from vaping due to that sort of thing happening? Edit: Maybe some AAEC-UK merchandise required / T-shirts, fleeces, etc.?

Hi, womble, As you can see I'm a complete noob, but I have a pipe dream of opening my own shop, Amsterdam style coffee shop. As a noob I can tell you it's a jungle of info out there, 99.9 percent of it online. Surely there's ample space for a good ole fashion face to face service. The sales assistant you saw today wasted a valuable customer for sure.

Retail doesn't appeal to me, but as a businessman I can see that there is huge potential there - if done properly. What other business do you get customers who are currently spending £xx a week on something extremely unhealthy who will happily spend a similar amount on something both healthier and more satisfying?!

Retail certainly does not appeal to me either and never has. But I'd LOVE to do this, maybe make enough money to pay the bills. I wouldn't expect alot but all I see is a massive hole in the market. I'm currently just trying to learn as much as I can and see if the pipe dream continues to burn my desire. The sad thing is I bet that guy goes back to that shop if he starts vaping. He deserves more.

Absolutely and he would have told all his mates (there's something I'm holding back here, which I won't say, but he has loads of mates ). This place's 99% of business is online, but they still want you to come in. I was (and still am) amazed.

Womble are you "Totally" amazed by any chance? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick? Hello & welcome JayJay. I think we have already met on ECF?

I realised as I was trying to tell him the basics, I should be a e-cig seller in one of these places, I would be a 9 on the scale, where these 2 guys were a 3.

Second guess - do they claim their cartos are equivalent to 40 cigies?
