Just wondering what you lot think of the Olympics coming up in London. I work up in central London so it is gonna be a pain in the bum for me lol >_< the Olympic lanes have already messed my travel up.
But if we win some medals then I dont mind being late for work lol

I quite like watching judo whenever the Olympics rolls around. Can't say I'm mad keen on any of the other sports on offer, but I'll probably watch a fair bit of it anyway. I don't care about GB winning medals, though. I really don't mind who wins. I watch sports for the interest of seeing two skilled individuals or teams compete. Geographical background facts about where the competitors come from (specifically: whether they happen to come from the same town / country as me) have always seemed irrelevant to me. I've watched a reasonable amount of sports in my life, but I've never watched as a "supporter" of one side or the other. I just watch to see what happens and who wins. The only exception is when I think someone is particularly likeable or unlikeable (for example, at Wimbledon, I enjoyed seeing Murray lose to Federer, as Federer seems quite straightforward and polite, and Murray seems like a grumpy bugger ).

no interest in the slightest, will be on holiday mainly because I live in the east end and work in canary wharf, have to drive past the stadium every day and it's going to be a nightmare.. looking forward to catching some of it on tv but that's it.
also dislike how much this games is controlled by the large corporations complete joke.

I love it all!! I am only happy with the TV when sport of some sort is on. I shall be in my element for three weeks or so. But then, I do not have to travel into London etc to ge to work etc. MMA

Mr Boo will be ecstatic, like magicma he loves anything sport related on the TV, im sure he'd even watch televised tiddlywinks if it was on.
Me personally, im looking forward to the opening and closing ceremony, and praying we do ourselves proud, and I can for a little time think "yeah, we're still a fantastic country, look what we can do!"

Mr Beautycat is working from home mainly while they are on, travel willbe a nightmare I like the open/close, judo, swimming and diving and that's about it . I do sometimes like the long distance running as I used to do that and cross country. I used to run for a local team and very much enjoyed it before the nasties, drink and boys took over

The short answer to that is NO, I find it very hard not to rant on this subject, normally I enjoy watching the olympics but due to the shear amount of grief this particular games has caused me then as far as I'm concerned they can shove it > Every day at work has been a complete nightmare due to the fact that 3 weeks before the games even start TFL decided it would be a great idea to re-phase all the traffic signals in london and they have caused utter chaos, and by chaos I mean gridlock situations on londons main arteries, 3 WEEKS BEFORE FFS > and they're still doing it despite this, my journey to and from work has suffered the same delays, friday it took me 2+ hours to get 12 miles home. Too much crap is going on in the name of the olympics, It may bring some money into london but it's my pocket its coming from in the form of extra diesel. London should never be allowed to hold events on this scale- period! I will not be watching any of it!!!

* don't hate me for this * lol but I do find it really annoying that it's supposed to be 'UK's ' Olympic games, yet pretty much all the events are in London! They could have spread it out over the country so that more people could feel involved, what about people from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland? Seems a bit unfair really

I consider myself fortunate I no longer live in the vicinity of the effects of it. If I want, I can tune in and catch it the civilised way via satellite and get some of the best seats in the stadia. But I'll not be bothered for much of it - the TdF was enough sport for me for the year.

it's supposed to be 'UK's ' Olympic games, yet pretty much all the events are in London!/ Isn't that standard? Cities bid, one city wins, and that's where it's held. (unless I've misunderstood something).

For £12 billion we could have had a purpose build park in the Midlands to serve all the country for all sporting events,But at least the poor government in their second homes will not have far to travel while on their five week holiday. I am so glad my money is spent wisely.
