Ha ha, he can be a bit of a timid cat, but he likes to snuggle under the duvet, as in this pic.

Patch does exactly the same as mum a few months earlier. And here's a photo of them too:

Here's a slide show of our Gerbils, Snowball and woody, and our Fish, including our young BN Plec, which changes colour all the time, naughty guppy boys, Neon Tetra, Shrimpy, the baby molly fry I mentioned in another thread a while back, which are all doing very well btw, and their pregnant (again) mum. I am posting a link to the slide as I didn't know which pictures to post, sorry about the quality of some of the pictures, I'm not great, neither is the camera, but it was also in Macro, zoomed, and have since been cropped, so the pictures lost quality at every stage. s1132.photobucket.com/albums/m562/AlvoRAM/Pets/?albumview=slideshowThis is my favourite pic, of one of the fry...

Nice pics Alvo, them molly fry don't last too long in my tank, they get pursued by four synodontis cats and the angel fish and become lunch Still, I've had a few beat the odds over the years and manage to grow to adults

I wanted Angel fish, but the PH of my tap water is far too high, they prefer a more acidic water, and the hardness of my water is also a touch too high, although not hard. I'd have to have reverse osmosis kit. Plus the OH won't let me get a tank any bigger than 4 foot, which wouldn't really be ideal for them They're beautiful fish too, very jealous. I've actually got to move the Neon Tetra to another tank soon, as the GH is a touch high for them too, so the plan is to move them over, and gradually reduce the GH, but because it can be a lot smaller tank than the Angels would require, I can just use DI water, slowly adding more with each change. I had to remove the fry for the first few weeks blakey, the parents and guppies quite liked the look of them as a midday snack. They're pretty much safe in there now though, they wouldn't fit in the mouth of any of the others.

They're pretty much safe in there now though, they wouldn't fit in the mouth of any of the others. The water round here is very hard, what I do is keep a sensible sized piece of drift wood in the tank that's available from any decent aquatic shop and it softens the water, also I change 20% of the water every week and I store the replacement water in a 90ltr plastic tank also with a lump of drift wood in it, that sits idly for a week before use. It does a great and natural job of softening the water. This is the wood This is an angel thriving quite nicely This is one of the smaller syno catfish, they don't really come out in the light, and some mollies and some of the tiger barbs I have in there. There's 4 of them syno's and that poor little one gets kicked out of their lair every now and again. They live within that rock arrangement along with 3 upside down catfish and 2 armoured catfish. As long as you're sensible and make sure you do them 20% water changes angels will be fine, that particular one is 3 years old. A 4ft tank will be plenty big enough for a couple of angel fish

Nice photos blakey, That angel is beautiful. Are they Tiger Barbs in the last picture? If they are, how are they with the Angels? Not nippy I guess, I see you have them in a decent sized group, which usually stops them nipping fins.
I need some bog wood for the plec, he'll need it as he grows, but I want some that's already been soaked long enough to prevent it leaching out too many tannins. The plan is to find the right piece, soak it for a few weeks, then start some java, or christmas moss off on it. But I really don't want the tannins that usually come with it. I could use Carbon in the filter, but that is thought to remove the nutrients that I'm dosing for the plants too, plus it only actually works for a few weeks, so needs replacing too often.
I know some types of bog wood soften your water, but I do hope it's not all types, because my other fish (Tetra aside) prefer the slightly harder water that my mains water currently provides. Gonna have to look into that, because if it is all wood, then bog wood is out of the question in my current tank, and I may have to move the plec over with the tetra, just so he can have some bog wood.
Oh dear Blakey, you've got me worried about finding some bog wood now, lol, not sure if I want to get some any more... Basically my choices are, find some that won't change the ph, find some that will change it very little, move the plec over with the tetra, or just don't get any.
BTW your water doesn't look too green, or brown, how did you get around the tannins, or have you just had it in there that long that it's stopped leaching tannins?
