Lilac, I've thought of that as well. Tasha was at least 20 years old (been with me 15 years & the vets assessed her as at least 5 when she turned up as a stray). I think she had been holding on to find the right time & reason to go. I miss them both so much & just so hope they are now together. So very sorry to hear about what happened to Amber

I guess it's the price we have to pay for the unconditional love of an animal Chrissie... I'm just dreading the day i don't have my boxer boy, Tyson, with me anymore, he's just turned 10 How are your other cats doing, cos i know Tyson spent a lot of time looking for Amber when she went, he kept going upstairs and looking in all the rooms...

You are so right Lilac, the more we love them, the more it hurts when we lose them. As for the others, that's added to the heartbreak They have been so confused & sad. Benjy's half brother Sam in particular - he grew up with Benjy & used to cuddle up with him to keep warm when their previous owner refused to allow them in the house any longer. Tasha, although only half the size of the Coonies, used to boss them all & they had a lot of respect for her. So there is a new pecking order that needs to be established & that's not going to be easy as my other elderly moggie Merlin is nearly as laid back as the Coonies. So it's a sort of "after you, no after you" kind of situation

Sending you love Chrissie. They say when you loose a much loved pet, you still feel their comfort & companionship, at unexpected moments, around you. I hope that will prove true for you.

*Comes in, looks around....no one here....ah well, nicks some of Scylla's coffee, a discarded magazine and settles down for a read....*

You are so right James. The real grief will take time to heal - I loved them so much. As for the vets bill, I'd have re mortgaged my cottage & even sold my soul to the devil to pay for anyway they could have saved them. I just miss them both so much

Heavens Chrissie, that is an awful lot of money. But, as you say, you would pay much more for it not to have happened. Thinking of you.
