The problem with these diy nic extractions is it is not only nicotine that is extracted some of the nasty bits are there also.Just look at the equipment needed to commercially extract nicotine and then remember that will be one dangerous chemical 100% pure even a wiff of it would kill you.The way I understand it the legal limit here is 7.5%/ml or 75mg/ml. Please be careful what you try there is lots of information out there it does not mean it is all safe or even right

Dear Mr XXXXXX
Thank you for your email about the revised European Tobacco Directive.
The West Midlands region is represented by three Conservative MEPs: me, Philip Bradbourn OBE MEP and Malcolm Harbour MEP. We have therefore divided the region geographically between the three of us, and since I am responsible for Cradley Heath, I take this opportunity to reply on behalf of all three.
The directive will be coming before the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee at the European Parliament for consideration in 2013. At this stage the proposals by the European Commission include regulating packaging and the composition of cigarettes and related products including electronic cigarettes.
My personal opinion is that I recognise that there are health implications to smoking and believe that there should be public awareness but once informed, there should also be freedom of choice.
That said this freedom should not impinge on the freedom of others so a pragmatic solution must be found. Smoking has health implications for smokers but science has proved that there are also implications for passive smokers as well. Advertising and the presentation of smoking at present needs to be looked at and I believe that this directive will do just that.
More than ten years have passed since the adoption of the current directive on the issue, during which time various developments have occurred. In response to this, I look forward to making concrete contributions towards the proposed directive when the time arrives.
With reference to your specific comments on electric cigarettes, the directive will look at this aspect, and I myself would be very interested in the scientific background that specifically relates to the health effects before making any final judgements.
Moreover, in the meantime, I would suggest that you contact your own MP, James Morris (james.morris.mp@parliament.uk) to make him aware of your concerns about the Directive and in particular the parts relating to electronic cigarettes with the possibility that the implementation of this part of the directive could seriously affect your health.
Thank you again for writing to me.
Yours sincerely
Anthea McIntyre MEP
I have now replied with a few links to evidence showing the testing that has been done I now await my next reply!

My recommendation would be the Aga S or the T2 both good simple and cheap as for oxidising the mesh it has no effect on the juice but dont overdo the heat it does not need to glow red even the heat from a lighter will do 3 x let cool just before it even glows is enough. Look up the peter K coiling video there are a few but Todds is very good

I got one aswell but a bit different Thank you for your email. The Tobacco Products Directive (2001/37/EC) lays down rules governing the manufacture, presentation and sale of tobacco products as well as various forms of smokeless tobacco. The Directive can be viewed here: eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:32001L0037:EN:HTML As you refer to in your email, on 19th December 2012 the European Commission sent a proposal for a revised Directive to the Council (made up of Ministers of each EU Member State with responsibility for a given area) and the European Parliament. The Parliament and Council are jointly responsible for deciding on EU legislation in this area. The European Commission's press release following the announcement of its proposal can be read here: europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-12-1391_en.htm The proposal will firstly come to the European Parliament's Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) Committee. I am not a member of ENVI, but my Liberal Democrat MEP colleague who is informs me that he is still examining the proposal and looking at the evidence to decide which amendments he's putting in. I have received other correspondence from members of my constituency regarding this issue. My colleague is aware of these and I am continuing to liaise with his office regarding this matter. With regard to electronic cigarettes I acknowledge your opposition to the extension of the scope of the Directive and I am aware that electronic cigarettes can have a positive effect on people attempting to give up smoking as well as enjoyed by individuals seeking an alternative to traditional tobacco cigarettes. I am also aware that in 2010 the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency in the UK consulted on whether to bring all nicotine containing products with the exception of tobacco and tobacco products within the medicines licensing regime, but no conclusion has been made. Please be assured that I will continue to monitor this situation and with Parliament only at the preparatory phase there is still plenty of time to raise any issues. Yours sincerely, Phil Bennion MEP Office of Phillip Bennion MEP 6b Bolebridge Street Tamworth Staffordshire B79 7PA
