Obviously a lot have read the Daily mails splurge on the "supposed" bad things about Vaping, well this is what i found out. It seems that the report in the wail was highly selective,it cut out the VERy interesting part. "In the new study, the researchers compared the heart function of 20 daily smokers before and after smoking one tobacco cigarette to that of 22 e-cigarette users before and after using the device for seven minutes. The people studied were healthy and varied in age from 25 to 45. Heart function got worse in the tobacco smokers, and their blood pressure and heart rate rose. People using e-cigarettes experienced only a slight elevation in blood pressure. American Heart Association spokesman Russell Luepker, MD, of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, says that because they “light up,” electronic cigarettes may be preferred over other smoking cessation aids by some people trying to quit. It’s not surprising they are less harmful than the real thing, he says. “The e-cigarette has the advantage of not having the thousands of other chemicals, besides nicotine, that a real cigarette has,” he says. “I don’t think it’s conclusive but there’s no doubt if you expose someone to fewer bioactive chemical compounds there is going to be less effect on the heart,” Luepker says. But they should only be used as a temporary bridge while quitting smoking, he says. The e-cigarettes used in the study contained 11 milligrams per milliliter of nicotine (Nobacco, USA Mix) in the liquid. That’s a “moderate” amount, according to Farsalinos, who says they can contain up to 23 milligrams per milliliter of nicotine. Many laboratory analyses have shown electronic cigarettes do not contain carcinogens, he says. But even in studies where formaldehyde and other carcinogens were found, the levels detected were 500 to 1,400 times less than the amount present in one tobacco cigarette, Farsalinos says. “You would have to use e-smokes for six to eight months to get the amount of chemical present in a single tobacco cigarette,” he says.Full report here. philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2012/09/04/e-cigarettes-dont-harm-heart-study-shows/

As suggested i thought i would start a Thread about Big Pharma and Medical Aspects of Vaping. First,my credentials.I left school and became a Medical Assistant in the RN(I was a smoker of RN issue baccy then)I then did my RGN ans was an ITU/CCU Nurse for 15 years,i then joined the Pharma Industry and have been there for 15 Years.I have sold ALL manner of products INCLUDING smoking ceasation products(IMO they are rubbish, they taste foul and require huge amounts of willpower.)I stopped smoking as soon as i got my Ego set up,which kept me happy for about 2 weeks,so i got a Lavatube and Vivi Nova which suits me fine.Physically i feel far better,no nasty morning cough, taste coming back.I enjoy vaping and will continue to do so untill i cant do it anymore!I have laid out my thoughts on Big Pharma getting on the act in another thread. allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=11750&page=5I am happy to answer any questions you may have at anytime.(Im not an expert in Pharmacology or a Medical Genius)

Hi andy one wonders if some of these 'chemical entities' could be the wonder drugs that some people really need to prolong their lifes or keep them from pain. Such a shame that the bottom line for everything today is money You have hit on a moot point there.I know for a fact that a certain Global Pharma company has in a safe a product that can clear up Leg Ulcers in 2 weeks! If they used it they would go bust.I am sure that some "Chemical entities" discovered are so called Wonder drugs but if the Company brought them to market they would lose out big time.Product protection is a MASSIVE issue in the Industry. Many odd things happen to extend a Drugs Patent life.A company usually has about 7 years to recoup all the R&D expenditure before it becomes available as a "Generic".So they come out with a "New" Indication or Dose/delivery System to extend the Patent life.If you want to be rich, become a Lawyer and work for a Drugs Company!!!!

Dont get me wrong, but the operative word there was NEED.We dont NEED to vape, but if you have a disease or illness you NEED medication.Thats the difference.I am with you,i enjoy vaping and have no intention of stopping either.I wish i had been introduced to it a long time ago.LOL

Big Pharma will NEVER enter the realms of Vaping. There just isnt enough money in it for them. They need to have products that the "Customer" hopefully will need for the rest of their life.It will have to have VERY clear health benefits and ANY Juices etc will have to conform to the MHRA regulations, and that means extensive Clinical Trials just for starters. These are VERY expensive and dont always show what the Companies want.Today all Pharma Companies want their products to be sold Worldwide, not just in a handful of Countries. To put this in perspective, only 1 out of 250 "chemical entities" ever makes it to Clinical trial. On average it costs a Pharma company around £250,000,000 to get it to that stage, even then it may fail to get a Liscense.Or not even be approved for use.So to be honest, its not going to happen. How do i know?I work in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
