I'm going to try weaning myself to zero nic but I plan on stocking up on supplies just in case that doesn't work out for me. How long will nic concentrate last if stored in the freezer? Is it 5 years max? I read somewhere that you need to remove the air from the bottle of concentrate before freezing but I don't know how to do that.

I'm kind of old fashioned in thinking it wrong to impugn people's integrity without evidence. New to ecigs, most of what I have read from the vaping community have been accusations of public representatives and officials, even the British Medical Association, being in the pockets of big pharma or big tobacco. Meanwhile, big pharma and big tobacco have been getting their opinions across to the people who matter, i.e. the people being accused of corruption by the vaping community. Isn't that what successful lobbyists do? No fear of them using insults and allegations as a means of persuasion. Failures tend to blame everybody but themselves.
I sincerely wish you luck with the campaign but will stockpile supplies just in case.

Thanks, Giles, for the clarification. Looks like it's back to Plan A for me - wean myself down to zero nic and use the ecigs to satisfy my need for throat hit.
Without meaning to be controversial, I don't see how it helps to label everyone opposed to ecigs as being somehow corrupt or ignorant. Not being British, I suppose my input here is an intrusion, but all the mud slinging strikes me as being counter-productive.......not exactly a charm offensive.

I suppose that if they ban the sale of nicotine liquid the 4mg won't really be an option except in mass produced pre-filled cartridges. Are they focusing on the cigalikes with throwaway cartridges....the stuff with real money making potential? Any chance that diy mixing could stay under the radar for a while longer? I'm having trouble opening links and viewing videos today because I'm on a slow internet connection.

Forgive the pessimism, but what I have read and heard thus far from people representing the vaping community doesn't fill me with confidence that they will be effective lobbyists.
Purely from a selfish viewpoint, therefore, does this directive mean that if I can wean myself down to zero nicotine over the next couple of years I will be able legally to continue vaping pg/vg with food flavouring?

No, Alan, they won't enjoy Christmas any more than the rest of us because Christmas is about more than the haves and have-nots. It's about counting our blessings and putting aside grievances and resentment. I have no intention of letting the greedy and power hungry spoil my season of goodwill. They can spoil my new year, but I'll worry about that when Christmas is over.

Milton! Of course that's the answer. Thanks Dizzi. I'm vaping away on my own mix and it's good for a first attempt......better than some I've bought in. Don't worry about holding onto those ready-mades. I'm sorted now that I can mix my own. I can get on with Christmas now. Time to root out the decorations.
Can't thank you all enough for holding my hand through this.

Yes, I used Frogsters recipe as a guide but with a variation in the flavourings and pg/vg proportions. My measurements weren't very precise.....hard enough fiddling with syringes and little bottles without trying to spot tenths of mililitres. It smells sickly sweet, but I don't care if I never get to vape it. This attempt was about familiarising myself with the procedure. I'm mixing for myself only so it doesn't matter if the end result is a percentage or two out in balance between vg, pg and mg.
With that in mind, I have two more questions, if you're still reading and have the patience to answer:
1. Would it be ok to just mix about 20 mg of nic, pg, and vg to whatever strength, separate that into smaller bottles and add the flavours later? I think I would manage better if I could just add drops of flavour to a batch of base liquid. I realise that the flavours will alter the pg/vg balance but is that such a big deal?
2. I have an empty glass bottle and plan to use it for my own mix. The bottle cleaned up fine but the cap still smells of the old juice. How do you clean the bottle caps?
Dizzi: Nearly forgot to say there's absolutely no need to send me anything. I'm swamped in bottles here, wondering what made me order so many. The only thing I seem to be missing is stevia which is on the way from Argentina and I can live without it while I wait. I have enough pre-mix to see me through Christmas especially now that I can mix it myself. You probably feel the need to give me something in return, but your advice is more than enough for me....it's priceless.

Just finished making my first mix. Not so difficult after all, apart from getting a pipette stuck inside the bottle of pg. I think it will be easier when I graduate to mixing larger amounts.
Dizzi: I went to the breaktru website and downloaded the version of the calculator that allows for 5 flavourings. It's really handy.

Dowden, please take Suede's advice and get out as much as you can. Sure, you'll meet the occasional idiot but the vast majority of people are decent folk just trying to get on with their lives and willing to give a helping hand to others where they see the need. Sometimes they just don't see the need - it's not lack of caring, it's lack of understanding. I didn't really understand until CP hit our family. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Even the unfriendly ones might be having trouble coping with their own major issues.

It's EU bureaucracy we need to worry about. Our own governments will hide behind their decisions. The Swedes can export Snuss throughout the world but it's banned in the rest of the EU, which doesn't augur well for ecigs next year. Anyway, I think that's a discussion for a different thread.

It worries me too, Andy. Trouble is that it's more likely to be banned rather than regulated. Meanwhile I'm very grateful to people like Giles who go to the trouble of doing some research and sharing with the rest of us on threads like this.

Quote from the Capella Website:
"Capella Flavor Drops for e-Liquid Use (DIY)
Our Flavors are Food Grade Flavorings , and are DIACETYL FREE.
NOT PERFUME Chemicals or Perfume ingredients.
Capella Flavor Drops highly concentrated PG based, water soluable flavorings are being used by many for making delicious e-liquid(eliquid) or better known as e-juice(ejuice)
Our flavors do NOT contain any Red,Yellow, or Blue dyes which could be harmful to your atomizer."
Looks like Frogster will soon be selling Capella flavours.

Thank you Perpetua. Thank you Dave. Thank you Dizzi. A zillion thanks to all three of you. Your replies have restored my confidence. I'm going to start with the Froster's Vanilla Caramel and hope for the best.

It's the tweaking part that worries me. I can find receipes using FA tobacco but they include other flavours from Flavour Arts or places like Loranns that I don't have. I'm sure I read that different brands have different strengths and flavours. Would it be ok to make one of those receipes and do a straightforward substitute of my capella flavours for the brands I don't have. Maybe I should just postpone mixing until I buy the other flavours?
