VV/VW mods should allow to compensate for any loss in performance on a puff by puff basis compared to the mechanical counterparts (although I believe this is considered arguable). Personally I think that a lot of it boils down to the object itself - I find that mech mods tend to be nicer objects: - No circuitry therefore usually more compact
- No need for any user feedback therefore no screen - a cleaner look
- Mechanical switches usually have a more solid, reassuring feel
- ...and so on

Right. Have emailed Vape Mesh Company re 1mm Ekowool stock levels - it's in stock on one of their sister sites but that site doesn't have the full range of all their other wires that I want. Hopefully will get some to play with before the end of next week!

Just wondering - has anyone tried feeding res wire through the middle of Ekowool? What I had in mind was to feed through the wire using it as a core then wrap it into a coil - either around an SS mesh wick/steel rope, some cotton wool or just with enough non-wired wick to feed back through the coils. The wire would then just be poked out at the points of contact with the +/- terminals of the atomiser. I can only really think of one benefit: that the wire would be completely covered by wick & liquid. Was thinking of trying it out myself but the Vape Mesh Company are out of 1mm Ekowool.

I've added a couple of new features to dot1ml in the hope of making it easier to use for beginners.
First is a "learning mode" that displays tips & hints for a number of features in the mixer. If enabled in your account settings (enabled by default if you're not logged in) the mixer will display a number of question mark symbols that will reveal quick contextual explanations when clicked on. Not all features have an explanantion yet but I will be adding more as time goes on.
Secondly is a feature which I think is unique to dot1ml: if you get any negative PG or VG values then an "auto adjust" button will appear next to the eliquid targets. When you click it, the mixer will attempt to balance the target PG/VG ratio and nicotine strength of your liquid to make it possible to mix without changing any ingredients.
Hope this is useful - let me know what you think.

I'm kind of blowing my own trumpet here, but I've uploaded Super-Shiny's recipe to dot1ml (my own eliquid calculator). You should be able to adapt it nice and easily to your preferred nic strength (and/or PG/VG ratio) Here it is: dot1ml.com/mixer/446b4bb

I splashed out on a GP Paps a while back. It's my most treasured piece of kit and would highly recommend one - it's very dinky in 18350 mode and the switch has a lovely feel. Availability might be an issue though.

I fear this is inevitable for the time being - the battle of the standards is only picking up steam. Once we see e-cigs really hit the mainstream I reckon it'll be like VHS vs Betamax all over again.
Exciting times to be a vaper but that doesn't mean we get the easiest ride. Yet.

They really are amazing cats, skyjay in some ways, they behave more like a dog than a cat +1 for amazing cats - we have two of them. I'm not sure ours got the message about behaving like dogs though - they're not only the biggest cats I've ever seen but they're also two of the wussiest cats I've ever met.

I've just added what I'm hoping will two very useful features - support for uploading and downloading eJuice Me Up recipe files.
The formats eJMU and dot1ml use aren't fully equivalent so it is possible that some details differ after a conversion. Hopefully some clever calculations should ensure that at least the end values for any given recipe are accurately converted.
For example, dot1ml has no support for a separate diluent. If a diluent is used in eJMU, dot1ml will add a new "diluent" ingredient with the PG/VG ratio automatically set to a value that doesn't affect the recipe targets.
Unfortunately, eJMU does not support recipes comprising of more than 7 ingredients but that shouldn't be a problem for most mixers.
The new buttons should appear at the bottom of the mixer whenever applicable - you can even download an eJMU file without being logged in or for an unsaved recipe.
If anyone has a chance to try uploading/downloading a couple of their recipes I'd love to find out if it works correctly for you.

lemental, I've implemented the keyboard shortcuts I mentioned a few days ago so you can now adjust any numeric value in the mixer (or account page) by using the +/-/up/down keys when in the field. I do take on board the 3ml scenario as well - it's on my to do list!

decadentvapours, awesome - I've just added the new flavours as well as the other (correct me if I'm wrong) 130 DV flavourings to dot1ml (see the ingredient name autocomplete)

In comparison, I wonder how much an Ego starter kit and a few samples of eliquid for each smoker in the country would cost?

lemental, by working backwards do you mean like trying to use up that last 1.2ml of butterscotch flavouring? I think that for the majority of use cases it will be more useful to have 5ml steps for the +/- buttons and that 1ml steps could actually prove annoying in comparison. Does anyone else have any strong feelings either way? I hope that I'm not coming across as dismissive - the site only has a handful of people using it so I'm trying to let feedback accumulate for a while. This sort of decision will be easier to make if & when there is a larger user base. That said, I had been thinking of adding keyboard support for all the fields as well, i.e. pressing the up/down/+/- keys in the fields to change the values (in increments of 1). Tablets & touch screens aside, that should give you the functionality you're referring to. The framework for this is already mostly in place so if I find time this evening I may give it a go. Just in case you're wondering how users will know what they can do that, I'm also planning a "learning mode" with hints and tips all over the place to provide help for new users & newbie mixologists. But that's all a little bit further down the line.
