Yep, according to a survey being discussed on Loose Women. 51 is the age at which a woman becomes invisible in society. So, seeing as it's my birthday tomorrow and yes, I will be 51, I will say goodbye now before I disintegrate. And...... If you believe that you are very very naive ... I am NEVER invisible.

Really wish I could help you out Dolly. If we weren't moving to America, I'd have no hesitation in adopting at least one of them. Poppet is the one I was instantly drawn to. Anyway, have you googled cat rescue UK for a list of places that might help? I had a quick go and came up with this www.catchat.org/adoption/essex.html but didn't want to carry on hunting in case I was out of line. You are not out of line at all newdawn I appreciate your help and Loobie. I think I have now got to the point where I will have to try any rescue place in the uk that can take them. If anyone knows of places that are currently accepting cats please let me know. I will just have to drive them to wherever they are. I have tried the place you linked to, but not had a reply yet

I phoned the local cat protection league, but only got through to voice mail. I have also sent them an email, but no reply as yet. If I don't hear from them by tomorrow I shall try elsewhere. In many areas it's run by volunteers - don't give up, maybe they just didn't have someone today. Idea for the future perhaps? Thank you Loobie. I am having the same problem now. I have phoned and emailed several people. Not one has replied apart from one lady from the RSPCA. After the conversation we have just had I am going into panic mode. She said they are so overwhelmed with the amount of cats, that they have a waiting list to take them in!! When I explained my story she said this was part of their problem. Many of the pets they are getting is due to sheltered housing or care homes and supported living places not accepting people existing pets. She sympathised and gave me more numbers but basically said she can't do it. What hope do I have if the RSPCA can't help? I can't throw them out in the street.

Well, now I know I'm not the only one! I haven't killed my nemmi, but, as I am new to mech mods and not used to screwing the safety catch at the bottom, three times now, I have put it in my coat pocket forgetting to do it. When I have sat in my wheelchair the button has pushed up against the arm of it. The sudden intense heat on the side of my body lets me know very fast!!

A bit vague on the details but I seem to remember a 3d printed hybrid, Looked a bit like Lego but apparently worked well. And markm... I have no idea what the plastic stuff these printers use is like when it comes to heat resistance / conductivity etc etc ... But we have one at my work place and I've been staggered by the complexity of the things these printers can produce .... They can then obviously be coated / sprayed to give any effect you want ... Just seems to me the days of buying metal boxes and drilling holes must be coming to an end ... Unless of course you love hand built metal boxes ( and some people always will ) Yes, these new machines really are an amazing invention. I saw on the news a couple of weeks back that doctors used one to remodel and build part of a mans face that was shattered after an accident. They rebuilt his jaw and other pieces using the 3d printer. I was awestruck. Is plastic the only material that can be used to create things?

Sadly, this is prevalent for nearly every company in the world that does business online. I gave up a long time ago reading or taking note of product reviews. Like you have found out, they just don't show the real picture. I do read FTs discussions though, as you do get the real truth in them.

Fantastic looking modholder OneDay... puts my acrylic cosmetic stand to shame! EXCUSE me! I happen to think that the acrylic cosmetics drawers with stand is the epitome of good taste. Don't go putting me off Lairey Yeah, but I already got one... Tis nice, but what Steve made is a work of art and a one off.

((( Blownupdolly )))) My friends granddaughter came to visit my furry friends today. She is extremely ill & also in a wheelchair. It made her day to be mugged by them all (well apart from Kiki who is very shy with people she doesn't know). I just wish that more folks realised how much the love & companionship of a furry friend means to people, especially those in ill health. It's bad enough for me with a husband, kids and grandchildren in my life. Can you imagine the grief and heartache it must be for some old lady or man all alone in the world and all they have is their pet? I think it's an awful thing to do. I agree new pets shouldn't be allowed but old ones as long as they are well behaved should be accepted.

Just pop them in a chattery for a couple of weeks until your all moved in and things settle down then sneak them home, sorted Oh, believe me I had already thought of that!! Won't work I'm afraid. We are on the first floor. Unless they work out how to use a lift they are stumped LOL! George is that lazy, he would merely lie next to it and wait for someone to come carry him home.

I think it is so wrong that they don't allow you to have pets in the sheltered accommodation It must be heart breaking for you or anyone else to have to part with your furry friends I wish I could help Blownupdolly but apart from being too far away, I already have 7 cats. I think seven is more than enough for you Chrissie. Yes, I am heartbroken. All three are in the room with me now. George in his usual spot, lying half under my arm and half lying on the arm of my chair. I got sent a lovely hamper from my sister in law in New Zealand. Poppet has "stolen" the wicker box it came in as her bed and is curled up inside. Minky?...well, as per usual she is sitting on top of the cabinet right in front of the TV screen so that we HAVE to watch her and not the news!! I feel like welling up just looking at them.

Blownupdolly My last three cats all came from Cats Protection League as adults - I had one very special ginger tom who had a brain injury after a fight with a lorry so needed considerable rehab; I thought he needed to relearn from scratch so adopted a young female (ex-feral) who had kittens from her first season and was very tiny, but a feisty little madam. That worked well and CPL persuaded me to take on another young lady who was difficult to home as she was a little 'odd' (she had been a very pampered pet until she got pregnant and was then thrown out - no wonder she was 'odd'). Those three cats gave me so much love, Woody eventually gave in to a bladder infection in his old age but my two girls both had cancer and died within two months of each other (they were very close but that was ridiculous). I wasn't ever going to have another cat but couldn't cope with a feline free environment! I took on a kitten as I wanted to ensure the best possible start (not being sure whether dodgy start contributed to cancer) then another because two cats are better than one!! Adult cats can adapt very well to a change in circumstances as long as they are loved and wanted. CPL, in my experience, are very picky about where their charges are placed. They try very hard to match cat to person so I'm sure the cats will be fine - it won't be so easy for you, though What heartwarming stories. Thanks for sharing that. It makes me feel more hopeful that they will go to a loving home.
