Unfortunately it was police shooting dead Mark Duggan that started all this.
He was shot twice and the third shot, from a police firearm, is what ended up in the police radio.
Duggan's gun wasn't discharged. Even if you take the view that he was illegally carrying a gun and deserved everything which came to him (which I don't, incidentally), where was the police consideration and care for the safety of the poor mini cab driver and motor and pedestrian commuters while this shoot out took place at 6.15 pm on a Thursday evening?

Tim this year is obviously going to be a painful birthday for you, but you will be spared the pain of the following birthday being the first without a card or greeting from your Dad.
It will be the anniversary of your Dad passing that you will remember in the future, not the anniversary of his funeral.
You'll be able to have happy birthdays in the years to come, although you won't be able to have your Dad join in your celebrations.

James the Mojito is fantastico! Very refreshing and cleansing, sour followed by sweet. I keep waiting to crunch on a little granule of sugar  Can't wait to try the Banana Daiquiri. |

I heard on the radio this evening that the police were going to be issued with plastic bullets. I didn't hear whether or not this just applied to the Met though.

I'm just over half a mile from Tottenham High Road but well away from the trouble apart from shrieking sirens and helicopters. Tragic about the lovely buildings they burned down. There's been a lot of money and regeneration into Tottenham. Locals are very, very pissed off with the thugs. Green Lanes, a mile or so of restaurants and shops open 24/7 is anticipating trouble tonight and there has been a large Police presence there since this afternoon. The Greek and Turkish Cypriots and the Kurds have put aside their differences and have united to protect their shops, homes and cars armed with machetes, swords, knives and goodness knows what else. They won't hesitate to use them either. Don't think I fancy Shish Rioter, Doner Hoody or Hoody Kofte for dinner tomorrow  |

Well done Jemima. You're on a roll now. Once you manage to finally abandon the dreaded weed your reward will be a hacking cough, sore throat and possibly mouth ulcers  It only lasts a few weeks and then you will be detoxified and have more energy, better skin colour and you'll smell as fresh as a daisy. Apart from a new healthier you, you'll have more money, unless you buy all the new mods being made available, in which case you won't notice the difference;) |
