Congrats to you both.  I don't drink mate. Put myself off when I was 17, I said I'll never do that again and never have. I love my coffee though! I wish I could still drink coffee, I love the stuff. Yet earlier this year I started to feel sick after every cup I would have, I used to drink around 2 litters a day of the good stuff, but then I go to my quacks & she tells me I have IBS yet it is only coffee that sets me off. I now have to drink Red-bush tea  Luckily still good with beer though  |

The way i have done it with a returned one was to pull the vamo top cap of using water pump pliers with tape around them.
I then push the centre pin up, de-solder it & put heat shrink around it, heat it to shrink it to a tight fit, & then put an O-ring over that so it covers the base of the centre pin & then just a case of resolder & then a bit of reassembling good as new (if not better).
EDIT:
I then turned this into a brass vamo looks great
P.S the reason it was returned was not for the above but because an inductor had been broken on it

Fine here on Chrome Version 25.0.1364.172 m using Win 7 64bit ultimate you can try updating see if the helps, Click on the customise and control Google chrome button (top right of your page) & click about Google Chrome this will then check to see if your using the latest version , a restart of Chrome may be needed |

lovely job and glad to see you didn't try to sneak a naked picture in the background mirror Personally I think you should have gone with the steampunk look but a beautiful bit of craftmanship. Well done! It's come a long way since all that sanding you did To be honest, it was a bit of a prototype to see what was possible. I may strip it again and get it all right down to the brass and get some more plumbing fittings in lol. Then again I may go for 22mm copper pipe. I really did like the contrast of the brass olives on the copper Funny you say that, I took one down to the Brass and I love it, I polished it up and it looked great in my opinion, but I've since just let it tarnish, and imho I like it more I might have to go get some olive joints now robby I thank you, & I also thank you for that link great prices for do it yourself wraps nice find I thank you Sir. |

dave you anywhere near Coalvile ? I have a friend out that way who if he could get a lift or a travel friend I'm sure he would attend. Unfortunately it is about 20 miles from me in nearly the opposite direction to Northampton - I am just south of Leicester, so not sure how we could work out the logistics of that, but I'm open to suggestions Thanks for the reply Dave, I will see if he can get to Wellingborough by train or something then i will bring him if he can make it, as he does a lot of Viking re-enactment he may well be busy anway |
