Moggy - thanks for the pic, looks good enough to me! @djs - I bought the rebuildable (is that a word) so it came with head fitted. Glad they work for you, I guess I just got very unlucky to get 2 duff ones.

@the Phoenix . I got the mini nova from vapeescape (forgot to use the discount - doh). The visions I got from liberty flights. Jen - no worries on the hijack, although I was starting to think I needed a plinth!!

Thanks OneDay - any idea what ohm head I need to go for? (another point of confusion for the newbie). Oh and just out of interest do you know if the Nova has a top or bottom wick?

Thanks folks, Am I right in thinking the vivi nova is going to look a bit silly on an ego and I'm better of with the mini? It looks very similar to the vision which is a bit worrying, but I'm willing to give it a go. Maybe I'll get one of those and a Kanga to compare... zeldamum - I agree with you wholeheartedly, I think my biggest problem with the vape equipment available on-line is that it's quite hard to figure out what's original and quality and what's just a cheap Chinese knock-off. Even the "original" stuff apart from a very few exceptions, seems to come from China anyway (it's just the same stuff on alibaba with a brand name). So you have to work out what's truly original (and pay more) and what's exactly the same thing with a different brand name (and hopefully pay less) and what's a complete knock-off (dead cheap but probably rubbish). Given the failure rate and lack of quality (I've watched a lot of reviews) it seems daft to pay over the odds if you don't have to. Ideally I'd like to find a quality local manufacturer as well as a good local supplier and then I'd be happy to pay a few quid more for something decent with good support for when it goes wrong (like the provari but that's in another league price wise). It's hard work wading through all the different options to find something that actually works without leaking or tasting horrible or getting juice in your mouth and that actually lasts a reasonable time. Even then there's individual taste, so the cost of finding your ideal set-up soon mounts up. Oh well at least the research is fun LJ. P.S Is there such a thing as an "original" vivi nova or is that just a generic term (see my confusion)?

Hi zeldamum,
The Alibaba thing is interesting for a couple of reasons, firstly it illustrates the sheer amount of cheap tat out there (which we're probably all paying inflated prices for from our local supplier), and as you say it also suggests that with the decent equipment it might be better to get a few like minded people together and do a bulk order.
Does anyone know of any American or European companies making their own quality mods out there, apart from provari, and I think Reo?

BTW has anyone gone to www.alibaba.com and searched for "ego", "vv mod" or "provari". Quite interesting!

Hi everybody, Firstly let me say that thanks to vaping I'm in my 4th week without cigarettes - yay me! I am however struggling a bit with the equipment. I bought a joye ego-c with the big battery and for a couple of weeks all went well. This was using the same atty, tank and end cap. Then the atty failed, so I replaced it. Then it started to leak so I bought some end caps. However these end-caps, no idea if they are genuine but they are the hard plastic variety, literally last one refill before leaking. Twice now I've ended up covered in liquid while driving (not sure if there's some reason driving makes it worse), which wasn't very pleasant. My original juice was VG only (I think, it was oksmokey, so can't be sure), and then moved on to some mixes and I wonder if the thinner juice was contributing to leaking situation. So out comes the debit card and I buy 2 rebuild-able vision clearomizers. The first one died after a week and whilst the second one is producing plenty of vapor it tastes like I'm smoking a burnt sock. For now I've switched back to original system which at least tastes ok. Also with both systems I've had juice in my mouth which is not pleasant (although I kinda like the menthol and it tastes better than it vapes in the vision). I know everybody is going to have different ideas out there, but can you recommend anything vaguely reliable before I give up completely? I like the convenience of the clearomizer but the reality has been a let down, is it worth trying a Kanga with a bottom wick? I should add that the ego battery part has so far been fine, it's more the juice/tank atty part I'm having trouble with. Until Dyson come up with a dual cyclone vaping sytem, any help will be gratefully received! LJ

spikeyfridge, I'm on a week and a day without chain-smoking roll-ups, so I know how you feel.
Personally I've had a couple of days where I felt jittery, but I managed to get through with coffee, the odd snack (something I am generally trying to avoid) and of course vaping. I started on 30mg but have been swapping between that and 18mg. The 30mg has occasionally made me feel a bit "weird", but it feels more like a real ciggy somehow (these are tobacco flavour from oksmokey).
I think there's so many things going on with stopping the stinkies and starting vaping it's hard to tell what's causing what. There's also just the habit of the physical actions, I still find myself looking for an ashtray or lighter.
That said, I've found it much easier than any other time I've tried to quit or cut down and this is already a record for me.
Good luck and remember you're not alone, the people on this forum are very cool!

Hi all and thank you very much for the advice, it's not often you get made to feel quite so welcome on a forum, and you've helped me cut through all of the marketing rubbish. I'm definitely going to follow your advice and probably go for the ego. I'm still on the "stinkies" (love the name) at the moment, but I'll let you know how I get on when it turns up, and if all goes well I'm sure I'll be back discussing flavours and asking more dumb questions!

Hi Chrissie,
Thanks for the quick reply, I hear what you're saying. My concern with the bigger kits is that I won't want to use them whilst out and about, as I'll feel like a plum!
Maybe the answer is to have something for home and something for the pub? In which case I'd at least be interested to know which is the best of the ciggie lookalikes?
I've come across the Riva, could you please point me to the ego as I haven't seen that one.

Hi,
I'm a complete newbie to e-cigs/vaping and am at a bit of a loss what to choose for my first experience.
Just to give you a bit of background, I'm a 44 year old bloke who has been smoking regularly for about 23/4 years.
I've recently been told I have bad gum disease at a dentist and this has given me the impetus to finally consider quitting the weed.
I'm a heavy smoker, I used to do Malboro Reds up to 2 packs a day and even more if I went partying. I currently smoke filter less roll-ups with Golden Virginia Green. I also work from home which means I don't even have to go outside to smoke, so my habit is pretty bad at the moment.
Anyway, getting to the point I am totally confused which device to spend my money on. One of my friends has given up and he's using a 10-motives but refilling it himself, but I'm concerned it may not be heavy duty enough for me.
I'm not sure I'm quite ready for a large device, and would initially prefer something that looks at least a bit like a cigarette and isn't too massive.
Given my current (very bad) habit and working from home, I'm very concerned about taste, and the length of time both the refill and batteries will last.
Cost is not too much of a problem, but as this is my first tentative step I don't want to spend lots on something I regret buying.
Having looked around the internet most of the "review" sites seem to be totally biased and also some of the recommended brands don't seem to be available in the UK!
Can anyone offer any advice?
Thanks, LJ
P.S I should add that my current need is to wean myself off of tobacco more than anything else, if I find I get hooked on vaping instead, I can always get more "serious" kit once I work out what I'm doing....
