Power on this pc and keep hitting the delete button (Del) on the key board. With a Gigabyte mainboard this should get you into the bios settings. Id this works reply and i'll work out the next step. This does not work.

With either drive plugged in it is the same. Get the gigabyte motherboard screen then black screen with white arrow.

With hard drives unpkugged the pc stays on but get black screen with arrow. Does that mean it is a bad hard drive or i need to re install windows 7 which is hard as i do not have it.

Still nothing peeps. Get the gigabyte boot screen for the mother board but no f keys work to get me into any menus and then just switches itself off and then restarts again. Thisnis with a ss2 keyboard attatched.
I am running out of ideas here. I dont have a windows disk or anything as my bro installed it all.

because there old generation ballistic sport sticks and not been made for a few years, chances are there's nothing wrong with the ram, but the important bits from it are the fact its 8gb 1333mhz ram speed with cl 9.9.9.24 and the bios readout should say so (that might be a combined kit size though rather than individual stick size) edit your google chee is weak youngling see here there 8gb individuals sticks / I will check that when CC gets here with keyboard.

I seem to recall from somewhere, that the f keys on a USB keyboard won't work until it has booted up properly, although I could be imagining it..............strange things go on in my mind. "Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!" They will unless USB is disabled in the BIOS. Modern BIOS is a lot more advanced these days. How else would i get into the biis catface?

Using a usb keyboard. It is all i have I seem to recall from somewhere, that the f keys on a USB keyboard won't work until it has booted up properly, although I could be imagining it..............strange things go on in my mind. "Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!" After unplugging and re plugging everything in and out inside pc it boots up now and i get the motherboard boot screen and then dies so guessing it is windows that is the problem now. CC is bringing home her wired keyboard and mouse to see if i can get into the boot menu and see what happens.

Already done Nick. what type of ram do you have ? how old is it ? and when you get into bios (normally hold down delete key or f2 during post) is your mobo showing the same size and type of ram that the stickers on the side of it show ? it could be bad ram it could be bad cpu or dodgy fsb setting (bad powersuply & or bad mobo) using a torch to give good light look around all the capacitors on the mobo and see if any of them are distorted perforated or there is any ooze /liquid /residue build up around any of them, bad capacitors will quickly lead to bad everything else... I had the exact same problem on an asus mobo about 3 years ago and it was down to a bad capacitor (deformed top) rma'd that sucker and its been fine ever since (that depends on who its made by and how long they offer, at the time mine was nearly 3 years old but had a 5 year parts warrenty) It is ddr3 ram and here are some pictures.

Pc Chris. Asked CC if she can bring a wired keyboard jome from work and see if i can get into the boot menu on start up . Not sure that will sokve the on off problem though which seems to have sorted itself for now. Depending on the amount of RAM modules & Module Slots you have Roscopecotrain, you can try eliminating if it's a RAM problem or not by this: If there are 2 modules inserted (which there probably are), remove one & try firing up the pc again........If no joy, take that module out & insert it in the other slot & try again........Then do the same with the other module............If one of the modules is naff, it'll still fire up on one........... By downloading & running this little beauty, I discovered both of my modules were naff, so I re-newed both........... www.memtest86.com/"Life...........is just a bowl of tricks!!!!!!" I have 2 slots and only one ram in there. Tried booting without the ram but to ni avail.

I had a similar problem a few years ago (win 95 time) on a self-build machine. In my case the problem was badly seated RAM. I had moved the computer which had unsettled badly fitted RAM. You might just check the RAM chips Nick Already done Nick.
