It's lighter and more delicate and, er, cakier than other sponges.

The madeleine features in Proust's 'Swann's Way', the first volume of 'Remembrance of Things Past', as he describes the smell of a madeleine dunked in tea instantly evoking memories of his childhood, the springboard for the rest of the novel.

My arse remained anchored to the sofa throughout. I watched half of the second series of Fargo (very good), some episodes of Mr. Robot (not bad) The Hateful Eight (dull), Spectre (very dull), about thirty minutes of the new Star Wars film (puerile) and a Swedish surrealist comedy called A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence (fantastic).

I have just taken delivery from my local takeaway four (4) different curries for less than £15. It's their Sad Bastard Christmas Offer. Bargain. That'll see me through until Sunday, although my digestive system may take some damage.

I also have two litres of Metaxa, so incautious posting may take place.
