Well, if it's an "ology" it has to be good, right? I made my first simple zero nic gingerbread tonight with PV, VG and some Capella gingerbread flavouring. I thought it was going to be pretty straight forward with it not having any nicotine in it but I still had some questions which I am hoping someone can help me with. 1. After making the mixture I put a little bit in an evod clearomiser to test it out but wondered how you all tested out your juice. I've looked around for atomisers but they all look complicated and require manual recoiling. Is there anything simple for a beginner to use? It was really cool making something myself that I could vape. I've put it away to steep for a little while and hope I don't end up vaping it all before it is ready. I am feeling a bit more adventurous now and looking forward to trying some mixes and maybe even some with a nicotine base which leads to the next question: 2. I have some latex gloves I bought in a pound shop. Are these the same as Nitrile gloves one can buy in ECig stores or should I get ones labelled Nitrile? 3. If I start to mix nicotine based juice I am planning on starting with a nicotine base like these 36mg ones together with this calculator. Would I need googles and a protective suit for this strength? I am very worried about the potency of nicotine and would rather err on the side of caution but I am just wondering how dangerous the weaker bases are. Thank you for any help you may be able to offer. Edited due to realising the first two questions.

I have a craze for ginger right now and have almost vaped my way through a sampler bottle of ginger snaps from the Alchemist's Cupboard after it only steeping for a couple of days. It is as long as I could resist. Will have to order some more to see what it is like after more steeping time. I store mine in a small cool bag too.

Oh my, wonderful storage! I have all my bits and bobs stuffed in a biscuit tin with e-juice in a cool bag but my heart is definitely yearning for greater organisation. I totally get the alphabetic thing too.

Hi Sammie The important thing is to stay positive and concentrate on all those cigs you are not smoking rather than the ones you are. I think all of us have had mishaps in the beginning but it does get easier although just yesterday I also unscrewed a clearomiser and ended up taking off the top instead. Some clearomisers seem more noisy than others. One of the first Evods I got still hisses and crackles even though it has had several head changes. Otherwise it works okay so I do not worry about it now. Others are much quieter unless they get liquid down their centres. In that case I place a tissue under the clearomiser and blow down the drip tip. This seems to clear the airways and I usually do this automatically now after cleaning and refilling.

Hi andyb2 and thank you to both you and irishcas. I am trying to wait patiently for the postman. I watched Todd's videos on DIY eliquids and then went window shopping soon afterwards. Suddenly a little mixing kit jumped into my cart together with some Capella Gingerbread flavouring, PG, VG, and Ethyl Maltol. I didn't get any nic because I am still a bit too worried about the dangers but I wonder if I'll be able to do anything with what I've ordered?

Hi irishcas and DiscoDesI am all excited today because I ordered a Vamo after a lot of deliberation and hesitation and I have just heard it has been dispatched. I am also reading everything I can about recoiling my own wicks. I am just not sure if my eyes will be up to the job so I have also been looking at the possibility of using one of those craft magnifiers. I would love to do my own recoiling but just not sure if I am up to it. ??? I am also toying with the idea of mixing my own juice. Somehow it looks like I may have gained a whole new hobby.

I've had a change of avatar. Now you don't have to go running around naked spikeyfridge.

Hi meanstreak and welcome! I have only been vaping for 6 weeks but I started with The VE Riva 1100 Deluxe Kit and Vision Spinner 1300 VV Battery and I love having all 3 batteries and use them all every day. The kit comes with charger, cartomisers and a clearomiser too. When I was just starting it was good to be able to experiment with the cartomisers to see which I liked the best. I then added a few evods and mini novas as I decided I preferred clearomisers. I also bought a Riva kit for my hubby but he decided he preferred the Vapestick which we had been using before and has gone back to it. I'm really pleased I didn't buy him a Spinner too. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if all of this is new to you it is probably better to get some experience before spending a lot of money on something you won't be very happy with in the long term and for this reason I think a kit like the Riva is a great start. I hope you find something you will be happy with.

That is a lovely gesture! You must be buzzing to have your own design materialise. How exciting!
