I phoned the local cat protection league, but only got through to voice mail. I have also sent them an email, but no reply as yet. If I don't hear from them by tomorrow I shall try elsewhere.
In many areas it's run by volunteers - don't give up, maybe they just didn't have someone today. Idea for the future perhaps?

Blownupdolly My last three cats all came from Cats Protection League as adults - I had one very special ginger tom who had a brain injury after a fight with a lorry so needed considerable rehab; I thought he needed to relearn from scratch so adopted a young female (ex-feral) who had kittens from her first season and was very tiny, but a feisty little madam. That worked well and CPL persuaded me to take on another young lady who was difficult to home as she was a little 'odd' (she had been a very pampered pet until she got pregnant and was then thrown out - no wonder she was 'odd'). Those three cats gave me so much love, Woody eventually gave in to a bladder infection in his old age but my two girls both had cancer and died within two months of each other (they were very close but that was ridiculous). I wasn't ever going to have another cat but couldn't cope with a feline free environment! I took on a kitten as I wanted to ensure the best possible start (not being sure whether dodgy start contributed to cancer) then another because two cats are better than one!! Adult cats can adapt very well to a change in circumstances as long as they are loved and wanted. CPL, in my experience, are very picky about where their charges are placed. They try very hard to match cat to person so I'm sure the cats will be fine - it won't be so easy for you, though

Everything crossed Blownupdolly. I've taken on 'pre-owned' cats in the past and, contrary to common opinion, they have become loving (and now much missed) companions. In the right home, they will thrive and enhance the life of their new servant keeper. The only problem with cats is that they don't live forever.

That is a perfect example of why AAEC is streets ahead of any other forum.

What's wrong with red hair? It's a Celtic trait as is the temper - I've got you marked Steve (VapeStorm) - be afraid, be very afraid!!
