Two of my colleagues were giving up for Stoptober, and so I decided to do the same. They both went cold turkey, but I knew I needed something else having given up twice before, both times for around 9 months. I did some research, found this forum, ordered my starter kit and haven't had a cigarette since it arrived. That was 1st October 2013.
I wonder if the community should organise something similar, specifically for vaping? 6 months after Stoptober could be Vapril...
Incidentally, my two colleagues did really well cold turkey, but both have slipped back into the occasional social smoke. Nothing to beat themselves up about, but it's a slippery slope. I have tried but failed to convince them that vaping is the way forwards, but they feel it would be "cheating". They'll learn in time that it's the result that matters, not the method.

Can't see any AFC on the mini but I'm still hovering ... The 22mm has changeable airflow pieces that sit under the coil, like the taifun, that will change the draw. It doesn't look like they've implemented that on the mini. Tbh it has the exact same functionality as the Xplora as it can convert to a dripper as well, so the only thing extra it has is the hybrid-y connection on an fx-16. I like hybrid atties but I'm not sure it's that big a deal, especially on a 16mm mod. Still, it's good value for the mod/atty combination, about £105 delivered. Just don't take it canoeing

It's early doors everyone - you can't tell anything from the first game, it's just good to have it out of the way for most players!
I saw all of the spurs v hammers game except the important bits as minionian had a grizzle throughout the penalty, the sending offs and the goal. I hope she's not going to be an arsenal fan, it'll break my heart! At least I've got match of the day to look forward to...

had a good session this afternoon! I've mixed 50mls of PVC, and then 10 ml testers of: RY4 harvest berry raspberry cheesecake coconut and caramel strawberry banana I've made up most of the recipes myself - hopefully my palette is ok and and they taste alright once steeped. I've read that FA flavours need more steeping than cap / PA - is this true? I actually quite enjoyed it, I took lots of time and double checked everything!

Keep us informed on it's performance ... I have my eye on the Mini setup. Will do Wobblybootie. I love filler atties, I've got xploras and herons already but got this because of great reviews, not least from 300 on this forum: allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/39257/troy-show-tellI haven't seen any reviews of the mini yet, but I'll keep my eyes open. I'm not sure I like the square top on the mini, but if it has adjustable airflow like the big one it'll be more versatile than other 16mm filler atties.

Watched the Man U game - if ever a man needed taking down a peg or two it's van gaal, so I was delighted with that result! Now watching spurs v west ham thanks to the internet (well, watching a slide show because it's a really bad stream). We've started brightly, COYS! and come on Palace too

Thanks to everyone that's posted - the prize goes to Brambles. I froze it, boiled it, tried voodoo magic before I came back and checked this thread. The drip tip and base are right handed threads, but the two body sections are left handed. Came apart first time! At least I have it sorted and don't have to send it back to turkey...

Good news: my Troy X turned up today and it looks great. Bad news: I can't have until my birthday good news: it got through customs fine bad news: the body is so tightly screwed on I can't get it undone. Any tips please! ive tried freezing it, but still couldn't get them to budge. My usual trick to put some welly in with a pair of pliers hasn't worked, and I don't want to damage the atty. would boiling help?

Can you give us more details as to how it goes wrong? Does it taste burnt, does the juice leak? What happens? In my experience the Kanger coils are of questionable quality. Sometimes you get a good pack and they are fine, and sometimes you get a duff one that leaks, tastes yucky, and needs replacing quickly. One way round this is to buy naturevape coils - you will need to wick then yourself with cotton wool, but it's very simple and there are videos on the naturevape website to help you. They fit in a protank 2, and last months. for me to wick myself i would need a Idiots Guide Video to follow Have a look here:

Rayon is very similar to cotton, but the individual strands all lay the same way (as opposed to the higgledy-piggledy nature of cotton) so it can absorb juice even faster. Strange as i find cotton wool wicks a lot faster then rayon (this is based on small areas of juice, i.e Kanger mini protanks/emows/aerotank etc where there is very little space for juice to sit) I'm going by what I've read - to be honest, I've not tried Rayon myself. I love my cotton too much to change!

hmmm... I've never signed for any of them, last got an order about a month ago.
On the plus side, maybe it'll mean that tracking in the UK will work!

The flavor doesn't come from the wick itself, but from the juice you are vaping. Theoretically, the more juice that is vaporized, the better the flavor hit. It's all down to how much juice the wicking material holds, and how quickly it absorbs juice. Cotton wool holds more juice than silica, and it absorbs very quickly, so it replaces the juice that's been vaporized much quicker than silica.
Rayon is very similar to cotton, but the individual strands all lay the same way (as opposed to the higgledy-piggledy nature of cotton) so it can absorb juice even faster.
For me, cotton gives a much better vape than silica and I rarely use anything else these days.
