I'll be there - unless it's persisting it down Unfortunately, getting drunk is a no-no: I'll be on my scooter. (Free parking - in York!) Looking forward to meeting some of the fine folk from the forum. (phew! alliteration or wot?)

I like some of the SS designs but would need some colour in my life lol and I find them too cold. Have managed to find another acrylic one which will do temporarily if I don't drop it! How about these? (I've ordered the blue but there are other (dare I say - more 'girlie' ) colours listed.)

Hey, no worries @lynxcat I think that - once the dust has settled a bit - the main argument will be about the long-term impact - especially on the lungs. I don't think we need to worry too much about nicotine, PG and VG, they all have substantial historical data; IMO it's the flavourings that will generate most concern, and where more investigation and regulation will (rightly) be needed. Just one example, a recent thread contained a whole list of flavours from one maker which contain oil. This I find very disturbing, and I do wonder what other delights we unknowingly heat and inhale, often on a daily basis. It's one thing to bung them in cake mix, bake them at 200 degrees and then eat them, (a lot of our flavourings seem to originate in food-type additives) but it's quite another to heat them to what, 600 degrees or so, and then inhale them. Having said this, I still feel (note, I'm not saying I know!) that 30 months of vaping has had a major positive impact on my general health - I haven't felt better for years - and I have absolutely no intention of EVER returning to cancer sticks. My two penn'orth.

The voice of reason personified. Yes, all well and good, but unfortunately 'reason' does not always prevail. We are up against all the bigots, zealots and neo-puritans (how DARE they enjoy it!) - allied to the steady stream of bilge, disinformation and downright lies that big pharma/tobacco keep vomiting out. I remain pessimistic, but I sincerely hope that this time reason will prevail.

Inside normally (especially on the rare occasions I go to a Wetherspoons!), but I also work somewhere that makes people vape outside. I used to think the excuse, along the lines of Wetherspoons worrying about their staff and punters not being able to tell the difference between an e-cig and a stinky, was a load of rubbish until an 'incident' last week. A manager from another shift noticed me vaping, waited for me to take another drag and rather aggressively challenged me about smoking outside of the smoking area. A polite explanation that I didn't have to be in the smoking area to vape did the trick and she walked away mumbling something about not realising I was using an e-cig. I was using a Vamo in 18650 mode and a Nautilus and as I was somewhere I'm allowed to vape, I wasn't being at all stealthy, how she confused my gear for a stinky I'll never know! I should add that I always check if vaping is ok in other pubs, clubs etc and wouldn't dream of going stealth if they said no, but Wetherspoons are an exception. Not that I have ever been asked not to vape in one of their pubs. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards My local Wetherspoons asked me to stop, or go outside. I asked why and was told that it was 'company policy'. So, I emailed their customer services and suggested they could set just one room aside in each of their pubs where vaping would be permitted. I pointed out that there was no real problem with cigarette smokers trying to take advantage, as if anyone lit up a stinky then vapers would be the first people to object! No joy. Guess who's lost a regular customer?

Very interesting, and certainly encouraging. My favourite comment came at the end - that the likelihood of teenagers starting vaping and then switching to cigarettes was about as likely as them swapping their smartphone for a public call box

No offense taken, Mart, I was just being daft (as usual). You'll enjoy York - lots to see and do. I lived in London for about 6 years (in the late 70s/early 80s) and really enjoyed it, but I wouldn't want to go back except for the odd visit. Pie & mash in short supply oop 'ere, but there are plenty of tasty alternatives.
Have fun!

Hehe No, don't be concerned - at allI worked in operating theatres for about 32 years. I'll *never* run short of syringes or wide-bore needles... ... I've even got an ancient amputation saw I'm not worried, just will get first train home if taken ill in yorks lol MP I represent that remark, mart166 Anyways, you'll be relieved to hear that I've retired now This wazzock* was a workmate - always found him a bit creepy... Incidentally, I did 17 years on permanent nights at SMH. 'Sleep's for wimps' was my catch-phrase. *Any namby-pamby bloody southerners should look this up - it's a great insult!
