it is a lot more common than you think but it must be repaired as soon as possible as the longer it goes on the more damage is done to the battery and once the battery as really overheated then that is the end of these batteries im afraid there is no return from a seriously overheated battery

Ronaldo your a star, I will strip it down later and check the joints, board and socket. Also I will run a multimeter across the battery to see where it stands on volts etc. If it is pronounced dead then send your address by PM and I will fire the MVP to you in the post for spares so others can benefit from the bits. As I said I cant fault it really, the things been in constant use for over 12 months and charged roughly twice a week, so its been a good workhorse. Just have to convince the other half to let me spend some doh on the weekend!! that would be great but BEFORE you dismantle read this thread allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/threads/recent/16289 as it will help you to strip it I was going to write one but I found this and it is more than good enough but as a reminder before you do anything at all get a very flat knife under the switch surround and slowly lever it out be very careful as they break easily and I always have a list of people asking me for them
and above all GOOD LUCK

Sounds like, send it to ronaldo, and treat yourself to a Vaporshark then!! I wish people would send me there broken MVPs instead of binning them as you wouldn't believe the amount of repairs I have to turn away due to not having the spares for them did you read the post I put on last week about the MVP post mortem I did very educational

mvp overheating is a tricky one to diagnose it is normally one of three things and I have had them on my bench for all three the charging socket has came loose but this is noticeable as the charge lead seem to wobble the circuit board is cracked due to it being dropped at some time (could even be months ago) battery failure the battery as came to the end of its useful life I also check all wire solder joints my guess with it being a V1 though would be battery must be getting towards the end of its useful life and overheats as it charges and if it is getting that hot on a charge the battery has probably been damaged beyond its safety limits so I think it is only really suitable as spares now im afraid but don't ever bin a mvp as there is always people crying out for spares for them as it stands I need 2 switches and surrounds for them and three top caps
