Especially VapingBad for his recommendation to replace the tiny screws and the link to the ebay seller. Ordered yesterday, they came today, replaced, assembled the 2mm head, used my usual .28mm Kanthal, and it worked a treat, 3 out of 4 lovely coils. Had to play around with the wraps and when I test fired them, they seemed to drop ohms until they were repositioned in the head, so maybe something was touching something, anyhow it works. Well. Easily. Not tried the other sizes yet, but I will do, just really to try them out. Have replaced ALL the screws on all the heads just in case! its so much simpler than flaming the wire, wrapping, tweezer pinching and flaming, cooling etc. now to test them for real in a tank or three..... a huge To everyone who gave suggestions, said theirs worked well, and all other words of encouragement, it's worth persevering with folks, my coiling tool box is now much lighter. minor problem, I ordered two sets, one for my son and sadly one set came with two 2mm heads and no 2.5mm head. Have contacted puff palace and await their reply. Selfishly I'm using the full set, son will have to wait. Does that make me very mean? Edit.....just had a reply from puff palace, they have offered me a complete new set, for free, WOW. Now there's customer service. If they don't want the original set back I'll offer it for free on here, but it won't have the 2.5mm head and will have the original tiny screws.

I'm hoping the little screw things and extra wire arrive today so I can finally make some useable coils.....it's tank maintenance day, they all ned a clean, recoil and new wick.... So maybe I'll wait till the postie has been. I'm sure it will be great once I get the hang of it hearing that other peeps are having success does help a lot, otherwise I think I'd have binned it. Keep the hints and tips coming folks.

Ahhh, ooops, didn't realise there was a coil master thread, no idea how to merge/move posts though, but I'll continue here if I need to. Sorry about hijacking the other thread folks, wasn't intentional

OMG! I'll need an ology to use it! @spikeyfridge, don't need an ology, just shares in Kanthal so you can practice If your coil master/kuro/whatever hasn't arrived yet, get a wire order in quick. However, all these kind peeps, VapingBad, Roger and others are being very kind and helpful as always, and I'm learning fast, although I really have no idea what an M2 screw is , Google will be my friend

tbh I'm OK hand making weeny microcoils for protanks, its the bigger, fatter coils I struggle with - so fingers crossed, the 3ml one will do me nicely for my spheroids and i can russle up dripper coils ok and I only want to make up coils in case fasttech stop making ready mades..... Pepperty I can make micro coils using the blow torch and tweezer method fine, quite enjoy it really, but these looked so quick and simple and no torch needed, seemed like a good idea Best order some more wire and some for the son as well!

This isn't a good photo, but.....backed out the screw a little and started with half a turn then pulled the leg threaded through the tube thing really tight and wound slowly and found that if I sort of angled the turning head by gently pressing down on the rod, it worked more easily. Finally got three sort of coils, using .25 wire on the 2mm rod. Roger you are absolutely right.....practice and more practice and I'll try reusing the wire not recycling it! Now, off to order some more of the stuff (wire that is)

Well, I must be odd then, because the coil master is working fine for me (sorry) I have backed the screw out of the 'spinney bit' a little so the wire sits between the screw head and the top, take it slowly, keeping an eye on it, back it off a bit if it seems not to be laying it correctly and it works well. Don't put pressure toward the main body. I have used .2 .25 and .3mm wires and tried all post sizes. Had some problems with twisted wire, but that was my fault as I had not twisted the wire enough. Best try again perhaps? I did try backing the screw out a little but maybe not persevered enough, although 20 or so attempts should have got me somewhere? I have some .25 wire so here I go again. Thanks Rogerfailing that I obviously need some M2 screws? And thicker wire perhaps. I'd love it to work.......thank you VapingBad

I'm defo sticking to my knitting needle! Jim So far the only use is that I now have a set of measured coiling rods.........now where's that blowtorch... Might buy some thicker wire and if that doesn't work, well I won't be sending a set to my son and I'll have two sets languishing in the junk vape box....

My coil master arrived today..........and with .28 Kanthal and any size rods, with no pressure on the twisty cap thing, all mine are over lapped and a shite mess too. Must have made 15 attempts now and the only way I can get a coil is by hand wrapping the wire round the rod! Which doesn't make a micro coil. Do these things only work with much thicker wire and if so I've got a lot of questions to ask........very sad person sat here watching the blizzard outside surrounded by lots of little bits of wire. I used to have a life........ Oh and I've put the tiny micro screw in the hole nearest the middle too.....no better. Boy these things are fiddly and I had such high hopes, and I'll be running out of wire too All I want to do is make 1.6-1.8ohm coils for my protanks, without resorting to the blow torch. Any ideas people?
