Thanks Greg! that all makes sense now! I'm finding my Protanks and Iclear30's quite airy, mind you on the Iclear I drilled out the hole in the drip tip to improve airflow and it's even better now, looking at the 150w mods compared to mine I reckon I'd need a drainpipe for a driptip and be standing in a wind tunnel to get the best out of it, the more I learn about Vaping the less I seem to know, at least now when talking with other vapers I can hold a conversation instead of standing there with that "WTF are you on about" look on my face,, Mow,,,

OK folks I'm confused again! this time it's Watts, using my protankII and 1.8 coils between 6.5w and 8.5w it seems to suit me and gives me pretty good flavour, and since I now direct lung hit I get pretty good clouds, when I crank it up to the full 11w it seems to loose the flavour a bit verging on a slight burnt taste, what confuses me is I watch all the vaping vids and most seem to vape between 8.5w and 10w, so why the need for mods that go up to 30w 100w or more??? are these extra watts just used for drippers and advanced stuff and this sub ohming? I see the new updated 25w Defender is out for pre order and I quite like the look of it, but for someone like me thats just likes basic vaping do all these extra watts acually mean anything? as I said at just 11w my juice starts tasting c**p I can't imagine what it would taste like at 25w,,

Right Folks update time! three coils cleaned three different ways, Bi-carb, Steradent and Vodka, tried each one with new juice and all three still tasted like I was vaping a burnt sweaty sock, I'd even swapped the gromits beforehand just in case, so I thought as they were C**p I'd take them apart and see if I could work out what was going on and if I could be brave enough to have a go at re-wicking them, got the chinmeys off after a struggle, boy were they tight, gently teased the wicks out, and noticed the coils wern't the best made and they were sitting low in the coil thingy, I managed to find a little 1.5mm drill bit and teased them up a bit as the was no way to re-wick them sitting as low as they were, cheacked them on the MVP and all three were reading 1.9ohm so at least I hadn't killed them, next problem was I had nothing to re-wick them with but in the bathroom I found some cotton buds and then spent the next 10 minutes teasing out the cotton bud to try and get something usable, now I don't know if you can use this stuff but I thought it couldn't be any worse, Watched Iguals vid again and I actually managed to re-wick them, Woohoo! I hear you say! and what made it beven better was it looked as good as any of the ready mades I have, so put a few drops of juice on it and put it back in the coil thingy, quarter filled the ProtankII let it sit for 5 minutes, re-checked the Ohms and fired it up? my next comment was Kin Ell! I could not believe the difference, not a trace of nasty taste and my juice tasted better than I can ever remember it tasting before, So conclusion!! it's definatly the wick they use in that coil, even better thanks to you folk I now have the confidence to re-wick and even re-coil my own coils, and I'm also converted to Cotton, so next order will be premade wires and I'll wick them with some proper organic cotton, I really can't thank you folk enough for all your help, also with the other two coils! I had a couple of juices I didn't like, I tried them with the new cotton coils and the difference in the taste is unbelievable, they have gone from nasty to nice, I'm just glad I didn't bin them,,,,

I think I should have said before but MP's reply just made me think, it's not really a burnt taste as such just a weird taste almost chemical that kills any taste in the juice, Looking at Iguals vid on re-coiling, is it possible to carefully tease the old wick out and re-wick with cotton? is there a special cotton pad or anything I should try it with?? I seem to remember you shouldn't dry burn cotton! I think if I can re-wick the rest of it looks easy to me,

Vicky! I vape my MVP constantly from around 9.30am to 2.00am so thats 16.1/2hrs everyday and find I get a day and a half, when new I was getting two full days but I wasn't vaping as much, now it's never out of my hand, with my Iclear30s I use 1.8 coils and vape at 8.5w so I certainly would have thought your battery should last longer than 4 to 5hrs, others may know the answer but I can only think you have a duff MVP or it's something to do with charging it from your Lappy, I was advised not to charge anything via the lappy and never do, trouble is I can't remember why! sorry I can't be more help,,,,

Thanks again folks! I will try all those ideas, I have a couple soaking so once done I'll give them another try as I can only think it's the wick they use, I took an old one and a new one apart and they look the same apart from the peg at the bottom on the new ones its a solid pin on the ole ones it has a groove in it and the wick in the new ones feels a bit softer than the originals,
Thanks for that offer Jim! If all else fails I might take you up on it, I really need to sort myself out with making coils, having fat fingers and iffy eyesight Perps suggestion looks like the easy way to go for me, but I think i'll still need one of those magnifieing stands, just out of interest! what does that second top wick do? I've heard mention somewhere before to remove it, but for the life of me I can't remember why,,,,
Mow,,,
Perp! I just looked at both of those! is one better than the other?? apart from price the only difference I can see is one the wick is twisted and the other looks like it's woven,,,

Thanks folks! Tried your fix Autumn no different though I did seem to get more vapour, I pressume that's down to opening the wick holes up, Toots! I think you have hit it on the head! rooting throught my box of bits I found a brand new original coil, I gave the protank a good clean, stuck the new coil in and it's back to normal vaping and tasting great, so it can only be the coils and as they are basically the same it must be the wick they use or something in them, I stuck the others in Bi-carb so I'll try them again when they are done, I've saved the FT link so I don't make that mistake again, luckily I only ordered 15 so not too bad, I'll re-order some of the original ones, once again thanks everyone,,, Mow,,,,

MVP2 Igual! it's exactly the same set up I've been using on 6.5w, I've tried every Volt and Watt settting, the only difference I can think of is I've been using it with the original coils and the new ones are FT coils, I re-checked the Ohms on the three new ones I've just tried and the original ones and they are all reading 1.9ohms, all I can taste is burnt with the new ones! no flavour at all and it stings my throat,

Nah! not the usual one, but I'm baffled, been getting along fine with my protankII's with 1.8 coils, nice vapour and nice taste, I've just recieved my order of new coils from FT, Yup! did another check to make sure they are the right ones, put one in and got a burnt taste even after letting it sit for 10 minutes, checked the Ohms and it's showing 1.9, played with watts and voltage everything still burnt, with the protank I found that 6.5 watts suits me fine but whatever I set it at it's still burnt, thought duff coil so put another on in, still burnt taste, put another one in and did a dry burn first, bit of smoke and crackling, set it to 6.5 fired it up and still burnt taste, so three coils all giving burnt taste, they are exactly the same coils that came with the protanks so I can't work out why these new ones are giving the burnt taste, am I doing something wrong? as I've never had any trouble with my other stuff, Mow,,,,

Hey mowjo, fellow Lowestoftian I dont vape more than 2ml. of 36mg. per day although the lung inhaling seems to have doubled that amount @12mg but I expect that may be the initial novelty. The novelty to me was the enormous clouds I got when I started lung hits, I was like a mobile fog cloud for the first week, the novelty wore off a bit after I had a couple of toots while driving and couldn't see out of the window, so now I'm back to normal size lung hits, you say your from Lowestoft! have you been dragged in by the new Vape shop in the center, they caught me the day they opened, with the come in and check us out can't be beaten on price lines, very impressed I was! not with them! me! five people working in the shop that day and I knew more about vaping than the five of them put together, and believe me if you look at my post I know very little, they must have improved the guy who runs the market stall taking by a few hundred percent,, Mow,,,

Greigster! you mention lung hits! I've been doing that a few months now using my MVP and ProtankII and noticed I don't toot as much as I used to, I've always been on 18mg juice and to be honest as the Mrs pointed out the MVP was never out of my hand, when I was throat hitting I was getting through three or more tanks a day, I start around 9am and never go to bed before 2am, but I noticed that since lung hitting my vaping has dropped a lot and now at a push I get through at most a tank and a half some days not even one tank, I can only think that by lung hitting I'm getting more Nic into my system a it's satisfying my needs, which is great as I'm only spending half as much on Juice now,,

I use Bluestar for all my bulk flavoured juice and never had a problem with them apart from one 100ml aniseed, and they replaced that straight away without question, I usually get Blueberry or mixed fruit at 18mg and found them as good as a lot of the dearer ones, I'm trying one called Blue mist which is blueberry and mint but to me is blueberry and menthol, it's nice but a bit too strong on the menthol for me, the only downside is the £5.00 postage on everything but if you spend over £30.00 it's free, the other downer is the actual time it takes to get to you it's been taking up to a week, I'm not sure if they changed couriers but my last lot arrived in a couple of days, personally if your on a tight budget they work out pretty cheap, but as everyones taste is diffent their juice may not suit everybody,,

I know you can get some good stuff from E/bay but be very carefull there is one hell of a lot of Duff gear out there since vaping took off, and I think it's one of the reason we have a list of trusted Vendors here, I am now in the habit of checking everything before I use it, with atties I make sure all the O rings and stuff are in place and do the same with coils, never presume that something straight out the box is Ok, they are mass produced and just thrown together, if you follow the advice these guys and gals give you on here you won't go wrong, I'm sure if I hadn't found this site and followed their advice I would have gone back to stinkies, and don't forget no matter how silly you may think a question is! always ask because someone will know the answer,,

i wounder if this will fit on a cluoper mini if/when if comes From all the reviews I've seen the loo seat fits all Isticks but not other mods, it's something to do with the two locking lugs that fit in the top grooves on Isticks to stop the loo seat spinning, I think if your handy you could probably file the lugs of so it fit other mods, how you'd stop it spinning is something else!
