All now sorted and seems to be working fine. I sent an e-mail to the vendor who got back to me quickly with most of the suggestions you all put on here. It seems the centre pin was screwed in too tightly and was squashing the insulator it was really hard to undo but made sure everything was where it should be and did'nt tighten it up so much put in a 1.5ohm coil and it works!! Thanks for all your help, so glad it's sorted I really like these.

Just check that your centre pin is making full contact with the centre pin of your mod - this may cause a partial connection. Something else you could check is that the larger of the two sides of the deck hasn't slipped to one side and is touching the smaller side; this will cause a short no matter how everything else is. To fix this, remove the coil, and with a screw driver loosen the centre pin slightly to allow you to straighten up the larger block so that there is a gap all the way through. Whilst holding the block firmly in place, tighten up the screw so that the block is secure, but be careful not to over-tighten as some centre pins are rather fragile and have been known to snap under tension. Let us know your progress, and if you can, take some good close-ups of the build so that we can see what you've done. That would help us no end EDIT: something else which has just occurred to me. Check that your coil is proud of the deck below (where the airhole is), and is also not touching either of the screws or posts. I've only mentioned this as the same problem caused me no end of grief until some kind soul pointed it out to me! Check too that any tails left after trimming your coil tails are not touching anything that they shouldn't. Checked the deck and the large side if definately square and not touching the small side. The coil was sitting ok and not touching where it shouldn't. I even tried two pre made coils in case it was my build but they were the same. Also checked the centre pin and seems fine, I have put it away for now before it end up through the window!! I will email the vendor and see what they say. Thanks all for your suggestions but need to calm down now!

Sounds like a faulty atty, does it still read 0.07 ohm if you disconnect one end of the coil? Dont't know but I will try it

It would only be the screws if the heads are shorting on the chimney or the positive one has gone right through the insulator (v unlikely). You can tell by the resistance going that low when you fit the chimney, to fix either get screws with smaller heads or out an o ring between the two parts of the chimney. I havn't got as far as putting the chimney on yet! will try some new screws. I will compare the two decks when I have finished my tank on the Kayfun I CAN build on without a problem and see if I can see any differences with the decks. I thought I was doing really well with my builds (still a newbie at it) it's driving me mad!! and not being one to give up easily I can see me sat at the table for hours!!

I have just received my second kayfun light (clone) and whatever number of wraps I do it always comes out 0.07 on my ohm reader! I am using 28g Kanthal with 7 or 8 wraps trying to get 1.4/1.5 or thereabouts. I have the exact same kayfun which I have no problem building what I want, it's so FRUSTRATING!!!! The only thing I can see that is different is I am having one hell of a job to get the screws to keep the wire in place which I don't have on the other one. I tried my MVP to read the coil in case it was my ohm reader but no, it would'nt even show anything on that, HELP PLEASE!

Thanks for your replies, I have tried charging it up but that didnt work now the centre pin in the base has come out!! Think I might just buy another base as I really like my E-Grip. I have found out the rebuildable base, put a new coil and wick in it and it is working really well, I find the draw a little loose for me but I will use it until I order a new base. I cant see how the pin goes in I have tried but didnt want to ruin it anymore! I have lots of other devices including the E-Grip OLED with rebuildable coils which is good but find myself going back to the original for the tighter draw. Thanks once again for the help.

Hi there, I have an original E-Grip and decided to change my coil, I use the Nautilus BVC coils and put the smaller pin in and it usually works great. I changed the coiland it wouldnt work! Tried another new coil but just the same, all that happens is the fire button flashes 3 times and thats it! I don't have any of the original coils and really dont want to buy some more if it still wont work. If anyone out there has any ideas to help it would be great or is it done for!! Cheers

My Ruthless Grape drank replacement and ADV from Bumblebee Eliquid. The best grape soda in the Uk in my opinion. I made 30ml of this up a few days ago and it is BEAUTIFUL!!!

Put in the rebuildable cl coil which I have built a 1.4ohm coil in, put in some Hodges Homebrew Strawberry Heaven and so far I am well pleased!! No leaking so far! I am going to play around with different ohm coils and see which I like best but so far so good!

I ordered the E-Grip OLED CL on the 13th August from our friends across the water and despite it being a battery item it arrived this morning!!! to say I am amazed is an understatement, I expected to wait weeks! Now for a try of my new E-Grip, I hope it is good! Just realised I ordered on the 13th and it arrived 13 days later, I hope that means it will be lucky and not the other!!
