26 hours -fag-free! Can't believe it. Had the ceremonial dumping of the 'ash-tray' today, but retrieved it from the bin, given that it had never done anything wrong other than be with me for soooooo many years. Really do think I am off and running. Did you all read my 'thank-you' notes - across loads of threads - for all of your wonderful support? Having funny moments - like last night - usual practice is: go to bed, turn on TV until feeling sleepy, turn off, settle down. However, if sleep isn't apparent within half-an-hour, then the usual would be to get up, dressing gown on, disturb dog in kitchen whilst opening back door to puff outside, enduring freezing cold, rain, snow etc. (albeit, not this time of year I do appreciate.) So last night, bath, bed, 10.30 - TV on, one hour later, still not sleepy - need a cig- go to get Riva (left in kitchen) - open door to puff!!!! Suddenly realised that I didn't need to. Took Riva back to bed with me - had a couple of puffs IN MY BEDROOM - never happened before! How good is that???? Feeling so, so positive about it, so - with fear of boring you all - thank you once again. First 24-hours over, and I have no desire at all to kill anyone. How good is that?

Hanow Scylla is so right. It's posts like yours that not only greatly encourage others, but also help keep the forum going And yes, I've seen all of your other lovely posts thanking us & it's more than thanks enough just to hear you are so happy with your e-cig That's not to say we don't want to hear from anyone having problems with their e-cig - far from it. Between us we can sort out most glitches/problems

You've done a perfect quote Hanow Hope you didn't mind me editing it ? Lol, I've made the same slight error as you did on several occasions. Typed in my reply straight under the last paragraph of the quote missed that the person I was quoting had put their name at the bottom so it wasn't the end of the quote. Lol, hope that makes sense

Made the most probably fatal error possible today. Not too sure how much liquid I need in these blanks with the Riva? have to say my one pissed off thing with them is the crappy and very unproffesional instructions!
Put a few drops of juice into a blank. went and posted my parcels then thought 'what the hell, I'm free at the moment, why shouldn't I go and have a few bevvies down the pub and show off my 'vaper''
Poof" Couldn't show off anything, after a few puffs (in the pub) damn thing wasn't doing owt! I'd only run dry! PMSL!

Dee, so agree with you. The instructions are naff. I only got my going properly due to all of the info provided by the lovely peeps in here - and from that I put it all together to get going. The instructions do assume that you already understand the basics at least of e-cig operation. I am still trying to figure out quite what the key element is to getting a real puff. When I put the juice in, I get a couple of good ones. Then this afternoon, that didn't seem to work very well. But, I had just changed juice (one of James's samples) and was about to write that one off. So changed cartridge filled with another flavour - but same happened. So then I realised it had to be something else. So changed battery - and that was what was needed. The battery I had installed this morning had been charged, and so I assumed would last several hours. So, ayt this point, not sure whether I had not charged it enough, had used it too much, or what to surmise. But change of battery did the trick. I also have found that advice given by someone here (and I am so sorry to whoever it was, 'cos I have forgotten ) to add a drop directly into the atomiser before reinstalling cartridge is also a good idea. I am determined to crack this - real ciggy free for 33 hours now - never been achieved before. This is the answer for me, but I feel like a learner driver who has to get to grips with how everything works. I have even taken the huge step of telling my offspring that 'mum' hasn't had a cigarette for 24 hours. I haven't told them about the vaping yet. I sent a text (as both were on their way to Glastonbury), and it would take far too long to explain it all at this stage. But, got two texts back saying: 'Don't believe it!' But I so understand their comments - they know how hopeless I have been in the past. Makes me even more determined now.

Dee....always carry a small bottle of juice everywhere you go we need to impress peeps with our toys so they'll buy one, lol Hanow, i have a Tornado, and the batteries are really reliable, if you charge till the light goes green, it really should last several hours, sometimes most of the day...i'm assuming the Riva batts are the same... keep an eye on it, was it you who had the DOA(dead on arrival) battery?

Oh and btw girls...hang in there, when i first got my ecig, more than once i was ready to throw it in the nearest bin, so many times i hadn't a clue wot i was doing wrong and even stopped using it at one point for a week or two....the vile taste of real cigs soon had me digging it back out and trying again tho....

Good advice from Lilac Dee & Hanow, there is a bit of a learning curve to getting the best out of e-cigs - no matter which model. The main thing is keeping them nice & moist with juice but not too wet. Plus keeping all electrical contacts dry ie where the atomiser screws into the battery - if you have overfilled with juice it will seep into this area, so just wipe both the battery & atomiser threads with a tissue/kitchen roll. Lol, in many ways the e-cig is a bit like keeping a roll up going - or maybe more so a pipe.

I was going to say that I'm still struggling after 18 months plus but thought it might discourage newbies... but there! I've said it now. I don't think I'm typical though. Obviously we need reliable, long-lasting batteries, but I think the weakest link is the atomiser, of whatever type. I thought I'd found the answer with cartomisers* but the last lot I bought are more cheaply made and don't hold the liquid as well. You gets wot you pays for *Yes, Chrissie, they don't quite have the hit of a 901, but with a good one there's a certain fullness to the vape that's very satisfying. And I'm willing to compromise for the sake of not having to refill them nearly so frequently. scylla
