Hi First started using skycigs about a year ago and they helped me cut down from a pack a day to about 5 a day, but want to cut the stinkies out completely... Took advantage of a Groupon offer earlier this week for a Freshcig.co.uk eVolve. It arrived yesterday and it's great! I've placed a few orders for some various sample flavours and will go from there. Anyway, just a little problem... Got some cherry flavour e-liquid and it's been fine, filling up the cartomiser to about 1.2ml but when it gets down to about 0.6ml, it's starting to taste a bit burnt... the same taste that used to be my indicator to change the cartridge on my skycig. Am I doing something wrong? Been reading through the forum, and quite frankly, my head's spinning a bit with all the info! Any advice gratefully received!

Hi and welcome I had a quick look at the website, it is a new one to me. The system that you are using is almost identical if not exactly the same as what the independent retails call a CE4. I have to say that for what you are getting, then you are paying a lot more than necessary If your clearomiser (what you called a cartomiser) is tasting burnt then it means that either the coil has some gunk on it (a coil of wire which is heating the liquid, if you take apart the cartridges you used to use, they also heat the liquid with a coil of wire) With a CE4 that normally means you need to change it for a new one. You can clean them, but in my opinion it isn't worth the bother. It may be that the cherry flavour has a lot of sweetener in it which does tend to gunk up coils very quickly. OR your wicks aren't soaking up enough liquid quickly enough, and you need to swill it around before you take a pull (this is not necessary with many of the newer types of clearomiser) I would strongly advice getting a new kit. The battery you have is probably a 510 fitting (but I don't know that for sure) in which case, if you like the look of what you have you can simply get an iClear16 myepack.co.uk/clearomizers/iclear-16.html This will perform much better than your standard CE4 (even though it looks almost identical) and has the added advantage of being able to change just the "head" (the bit which has the coil in it) If you battery does not have the right connection then you will need to get a new one of those too. There are a million options to choose from. These are a great starting point myepack.co.uk/batteries/vision-spinner-1300-mah.html you can change the voltage, which basically allows you to choose how hot you want your liquid to get. Different liquids/flavours respond better to more or less "power" The people you are buying from are charging twice as much as they should be and selling you outdated technology. Luckily there are plenty of independent vendors selling better quality product at half the price, the world is your oyster

Hi. Yes, your Evolve is a basic disposable clearomiser (clear plastic tank/atomizer). They can start to taste bad as they get empty. Mostly, swishing the liquid around will help. I tended to fill mine up again on about 0.6ml. As you have a battery that take this type of atomizer, you can now choose from a huge range of clearomisers to suit your needs. I would recommend an iClear16 or evod or even a mini Protank. From any/all of the best vendors.

Hi Dragon, Hi Karma Thanks for the replies! Dragon, the groupon offer was much cheaper than on the Freshcigs site - battery (yes, a 510 fitting), 2 clearomisers (sorry, not used to all the new terminology - this is a whole new world!!! ) a USB charger and 90ml of liquid for £23.99 - thought it would be a good start to see if I preferred it to the skycig, and I most definitely do, far more satisfying! Would the coil clog up after less than a day's worth of use? And yes, Karma, if I top the clearomiser back up, the burnt taste does go away. A friend of mine says she cleans her clearomiser with neat vodka, does that work? Thanks again

Good, so at the moment you just need to keep topped up to avoid the burnt taste laireyVodka is a bit expensive, many use bicarbonate of soda or cheap denture tablets to clean clearos etc Great that your new kit has a 510 fitting as most things will fit on it for the future. How are you getting on with your 90mls of juice? Hope you like it as it's a lot to get through

Hi lairey and to AAEC .. good to have you on board. dragon seems to have all the bases covered regarding the questions you have asked. The thread that Karma has linked to is essential reading to give you an understanding of all the vape related terminology which can be very confusing to the uninitiated.

Karma, the juice I got is tobacco flavour... I don't like them as even with stinkies I am a menthol gal. My partner uses the skycig as well and I've given them to him - we've been refilling the cartomisers for a while anyway, which is how come I had some cherry juice. Anyway, thanks to all the wonderful information on here, I've just spent a small fortune on sample flavours for me Although slightly less expensive than the spending I get tempted with on the camping forum I frequent, new tents can be a little pricey!

lairey The main current cheap supplier is Paradise Vape, but their website is down atm. In their absence your cheapest option is probably www.bitandpiecesvape.co.uk/index.php?c=27&p=119&prodtype=1which has the CE5, which is the updated version of your CE4. When the coil gets gunked up, you change the head, not the whole clearomiser. And it is easier to clean. For the £15 you also get a good battery. Worth having 2, so you can use one while the other charges. That one will last nearly twice as long as the one you've got at the moment. And your old clearomisers will fit on the new battery and vice-versa. Alternatively, get better clearomisers. The ones recommended by djs are all good. I think that the iclear (you'd probably want the iclear16) has the best flavour, but it uses more juice - it really is a dual coil, unlike the one you've got - the website lied about that. But some people prefer the evod/protank. Evod is cheaper and (I think) more rugged. Protank (you'd probably want the mini) is prettier, has a glass tank and metal tip, which a lot of us like.

You can clean your clearos with vodka, but personally I'd recommend adding tonic to the vodka and drinking it instead, and just run the clearomiser head under a hot tap for a while, which works OK if you don't let it get too gungy.
