hi,
I have the famous vamo v5 o ring issue 0.0 ohms reading.
I have the following questions / comments.
1/ I can still see the o ring in side (original) only had vamo a month. seems quite thin though.
2/ I cleaned the connection as it was dirty
3/ I have tried all the normal pulling the pin up or down with no change from the 0.0 reading.
4/ The ring seems to be around the pin not under it. is this right (have tried pushing ring down with no sucess)
5/ what o rings do i need to order. if i need to.
6/ I have some ego batteries will they have a ring i can use. or what will.
7/ what else can i try ?
Thanks

It's not an O ring, but it might be now. It started life as a small grommet insert that fits down the hole the pin Sticks out of. The problem comes when you tighten something with a long positive pin to the top And do it up spotlight that the vamo positive pin cuts the top off the grommet leaving An o ring. You can repair it with a grommet from an old ego, it's just a bit fiddle getting it over the Positive pin on the vamo, the least fiddle way is if you can remove the pin then resolver it Afterfittingthe grommit, but it can be done without if you don't fancy resoldering it.

I found that by using an o ring it solves the over tightening issue as the o ring is a bit thicker

I found that by using an o ring it solves the over tightening issue as the o ring is a bit thicker The problem is an o ring will not insulate the opening the positive pin passes through, you are just hoping the remaining piece of the grommit stays put. The ego grommets are normally a bit sturdier and fully insulate the pin.

I used a grommet from an old nova head (three times now). Worth having a look at this.

Hi clivealive1, first off if you purchased your Vamo from a reputable UK vendor then you should have an easy warranty claim (if you put the original grommet back). The best repair is 5mm heat-shrink (8mm flat) over the pin and wire, shrink and trim, then a 2mm ID x 1mm C/S O ring under the lip of the pin. It's easiest done with the pin removed but can be done 'over the pin'. I wouldn't bother with a standard grommet as you will end up doing this again in less than a year. PM me your address and I can let you have a couple of O rings and some heat-shrink, gratis. If you aren't having any joy then you can send it to me and I'll (hopefully) be able to sort it for you. No charge, I just ask that you cover the return postage.
