ok, stupid question time but bear with me...
did a dual coil (you might have heard about this) on the valkeyrie. no idea what its firing at as i havent a multi meter thingy but tastes a bit burnt. when i did a nova coil, it came in at 2.4.
i have .20 kanthal and 2mm ekowool and cotton wool i can use. how many wraps of wire to get a good result in single AND dual coil.
at moment i have 6 wraps and cotton wool dual coil set up.
more wraps = higher thingies/0hms?
please dont blind me with electronics. words of one syllable would be helpful

If I remeber rightly you wrapped the coils in cotton instead of threadimg It through. Sometimes if the cotton comesmaway from the coil youll get a hot spot which will burn. Remove the cotton, dry burn the coils, make sure theyre still nice and tight together and replace the cotton. And that build should be around the 1ohm mark, when I didma single of that coil it was 1.9 so 2 would be 0.95 ish

Tear off a small strip of the cotton and roll it between your fingers, then yiou can poke it through no bother

0.20 Kanthal is not the best for making microcoils as it is very thin and weak, good for silica/ekowool though.

what size should i use? can i wrap it round the ekowool then? and use this for the coiling? 0.25 and upwards is good for microcoils as they are thicker and have more strength. 0.20 is perfectly fine for ekowool and silica. Don't get me wrong but you can use 0.20 for microcoil/cotton but when pulling the cotton through due to the weakness of the wire it can pull the wire apart as the wire does not hold well together. Very doable with someone who has been coiling for some time but someone just getting used to it i would go for 0.25 upwards.

Forgot to add, i use 0.25 for nearly all my stuff, it works and it works well and heats up nice and quick: 0.25 Kanthal

ive found that when doing a microcoil and attempting threading cotton wool, either stab through using blunt needle or use a needle threader. Sorted!
