Hi I'm currently vaping an aspire ET-S with 1.8 ohm coil on a spinner 2 set at 3.8v and I've noticed the base of the ET-S gets quite warm to the touch. Is this pretty normal?
Cheers

Depends on how you vape I think, mine can get warm sometimes usually when I am chain vaping! If I realise the atty is getting warm, I usually set it to the side for a while

I'm not sure I'd consider myself a chain vaper but depending on the situation I either take a couple of vapes or vape like I'm smoking an analog. The base does cool down fairly quickly once I put it down. Will getting the base hot do any damage?

Bottom of my aspires gets warm sometimes too. More so on the spinner than on a mod. I just set it aside for a little while.

I just put it in down couple of minutes later it's fine again. Dose not seem to do any damage. But both are new. So maybe long term it might wear the coils out quicker ?? Just a thorough as I don't really know. Maybe a long term clero and spinner/twist user could make a comment when they see this thread and let us know. I don't think it would do any damage to the battery which is the bit that costs to replace

I would of thought several things are at play. For instance I chain vape, by that I mean my vape is in my hand more than it is out of it! I don't vape like I smoked so am constantly taking one or two draws every few minutes. Bearing in mind as well that there is a current running from battery to atty which is what powers the coil, I would have thought that as you increase the voltage that it will so increase the heat that is produced via the coil/atty thus producing the vape you require.
Now I am by no means an expert, but if after you put it down it cools off then I would assume that all is ok and that it is just the process I described above, however, I would say that if you smell burning or the atty is seriously hot then you would need to think about checking your batteries/coil etc.

It's probably ok, mods do get warm, as the heat spreads, so the more you use it the hotter it gets, simples.

Vape = vapour, caused by boiling & evaporating liquid. Coil = red hot bit of metal. Conduction = the spread of heat through a material. Warm atty = normal

Like OneDay says - if it gets seriously hot then it's time to think again, but in normal usage they do get warm to the touch, nothing to worry about!

Also, keep in mind that our sense of warmth is relative and nicotine makes your fingers colder than normal due to constricting capillaries. Often times, an atty base that feels warm to your fingers will feel quite cold if you hold it to your lips or your wrist. In any case the bottom line is that the worst thing that can happen is the juice getting singed... and you will immediately taste that in the vapour. So as long as it tastes fine, there's nothing to worry about. Just go a bit easy if you notice it getting really warm to avoid getting to that point. But don't trust your fingers when it comes to measuring temperature. If you're worried about the wick getting singed, don't... those wicks are made of silica. You can take a blowtorch to them and all they'll do is glow red for half a second and go right back to normal. People even do that to clean silica wicks.
