Found at ecf "As promised yesterday here is a quick test I did today. RDA used was a veritas. 28g ni200 coil. 9 wraps around a 6-32 screw. I tested on 2 mods. A hana modz mini with the older firmware (no Celsius), and a vaporshark rdna (newer one with Celsius and larger screen). Both devices were set to 25watts and 430* Both devices fluctuated the temp +-30 degrees while firing. My hands aren't the most steady so trying to keep the thermal imager and devices steady to get a good reading was tough. I did notice though that when the wick was drying out, the fluctuations got more extreme. I was seeing some peak temps in the 480-490 range and the display was showing almost no wattage output. I'd say it did it's job as the wick wasn't really scorched at the end of the tests. First photo, the hana mod read the base resistance as .11ohm Second photo, the vaporshark read the base resistance as .12ohm So many variables to account for so probably a bit meaningless. It would really have to be done on a coil with no wick but even then it wouldn`t prove anything VapingBadEDIT. I think the only way to do it would be a dry coil with temp set at about 420 and a calibrated thermal imager, and see what the variation is. The pics appear to show a wicked and juiced coil.

It`s on here somewhere VapingBad, but I dont know where, copied from another forum I think Found it link, it didn't say 30 F out at all, but fluctuations of 30 F and if the coil had a hot spot that would be less than to 10 F tolerance for avg temp, they can't do anything about hot spots. Just the reaction speed of the system causing swings and not an easy thing to test I would not read much into that, maybe if it was at a resolution where you could see the wraps of the coil to understand the overall temp. As we have been saying adjust to taste. E: by robby, I wrote this before reading your post

It really doesn`t matter if it is accurate, it`s not really about boiling liquids, it`s about not burning their ingrediants or the wicks. It`s also about learning the way your own device works and how that suits your taste as an individual.

Vaped my Kanger Subtank to dry and never had a hint of a dry hit, TC was cutting in at 2.3 watts at its driest point . I have found that the TC has been cutting in at around 12 and a bit watts and after following this thread, the advice has been possible slow wicking. I have removed the Jap Cotton and dry burnt the coil, washed it all and the coil is still showing the same as before at 0.13 ohms. My Jap cotton wick was inserted so that it was not tight or loose and moved freely side to side.
My new KGD wick has been reduced by about a third in thickness and when inserted through the coil, it barely fills it internal diameter, (so, very loose) Vaped at 20 watts and it is way too strong, so reduced to 15 watts. The TC is now cutting in at 14.9 watts and was even showing spot on my 15 watts.
Just fired it for a direct lung draw and went to 14.9w dropped in stages to 14.1w and back up to 15w over the course of a 6 second draw with increased flavour over my previous wick.
Looks like juice flow has been much improves with a lot less cotton.

Truth. I think quite a few folks just wick "good enough" and don't really take the risk to "perfect" wicking for the atty of their choice out of fear of burnt hits. They'll put up with gurgling or flooding or leaking or muted flavor to prevent this. Welcome to the tasty, lighter-wicked future.
