That faulty screen looks like it has taken a bath, electrics do tend to go wrong when you mix them with water.
The Evolv and Provape boards have a waterproof coating, not the Evolv screens though.

Vaped my Kanger Subtank to dry and never had a hint of a dry hit, TC was cutting in at 2.3 watts at its driest point . I have found that the TC has been cutting in at around 12 and a bit watts and after following this thread, the advice has been possible slow wicking. I have removed the Jap Cotton and dry burnt the coil, washed it all and the coil is still showing the same as before at 0.13 ohms. My Jap cotton wick was inserted so that it was not tight or loose and moved freely side to side. My new KGD wick has been reduced by about a third in thickness and when inserted through the coil, it barely fills it internal diameter, (so, very loose) Vaped at 20 watts and it is way too strong, so reduced to 15 watts. The TC is now cutting in at 14.9 watts and was even showing spot on my 15 watts. Just fired it for a direct lung draw and went to 14.9w dropped in stages to 14.1w and back up to 15w over the course of a 6 second draw with increased flavour over my previous wick. Looks like juice flow has been much improves with a lot less cotton. The DNA40 is a great tool for getting wicks spot on and learning about them Totally agree, I have had my frustrations the with DNA40 but in hindsight all its done is to force me to learn.

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, or even applicable to the clone board (everything else seems to be), but I read/watched something interesting about "refinement mode" from an interview with Brandon from Evolv: "After about 4-5 minutes it goes into refinement mode. It watches the coil cool and resistance descent until it levels out, looks at the temperature of the board itself and calls that the new reference. Run it for a minute set it down for 5 minutes to let it do refining" There's a few other tips in this post. Unfortunately the video reference times are out, probably by the advertisements in the video.

I have posted them a couple of times in this thread and in the Nickel build thread, but it is all good stuff and nothing wrong with repeating, in fact it's good to remind people.

VapingBad - Cool. Can you point me to the Nickel build thread? I'm searching/looking but not finding it.

I've learned more about wicking capacity over the last couple of days than I ever would have learned without the additional information given by the DNA40.

Well from my point of view, as someone who doesn`t have the original, it`s great, well made, does exactly what it says it will do and does it well -V-

I had been building my coils as standard (not micro) as I had read somewhere that spaced coils where best........but I thought I would give it a go with a micro and for me it is a bit like night and day. 10/11 wraps of 0.29 ni200 around a 3mm rod micro coil and came out bang on what the Steam Engine Calc predicted at .18ohms. Vapes far better than a spaced coil.

So what do you think, spaced or micro coils with the nickel wire is best?

The Steam Engine Calc must be set up for Micro Coils because the predicted ohms bear no relation to a spaced coil....unless I need to change the Steam Engine settings, but I cannot see a choice for coil types. ???

It should just be the length of the wire and micro-coils should only be a different resistance to spaced coils if they were shorting across wraps and if they were you wouldn't be liking them as much as you do.
