Because I don't shoot for ohms, I build a coil for the atty and air flow .2 for duel .3 for single and haven't had a coil I couldn't fire yet. Wanted to go low on the SX to test a few day ago so twisted some .3 think 6 wraps come out at .09, undone 1 wrap to get .07...for me that was quicker than entering it all in steam engine. I see, it wasn't me asking though I was just trying to help out banditruss with starting off as it can be quite annoying when starting without a little help from a calculator, I prefer thicker wire to work with so 26g I find is quite nice, I didnt work it out with steam engine to get that I just made a coil with 10 wraps it was a bit low for my likeing so added another wrap. But to try and work out what banditruss wanted I worked out my coil on steam engine and then tested a few to see how accurate it was and greatly appreciated as well !! thank you

Go for the tempered it's a bit more like kanthal, but if you heat it enough to glow it will go back to being annealed.

I find working with both much the same, not a long term vapor like many so started building with NI200 very shortly after kanthel so learnt it without habits. It works great for spaced coils, it almost spaces itself pretty evenly. Maybe a discussion for another thread but for single cotton coil 10 wraps spaced is way too much, heat spreads and I think it also using the cotton itself as heat source, it heats it...also with spaced you have more channels for the vapor, not 2 like pinched, more air velocity because it's straight though the coil not around it. Temp control also seems to center the heat to the middle of the coil anyway so why have 5 wraps of potential trouble, 5 wraps over the air hole, the rest is wasted. IMHO. Burnt cotton test on 6 wraps......most of the heat is applied to the center of the coil, if that was 10 wraps the cotton would be marked the same.

so your saying choose a wire to get what ohm you want at around 5 wraps ?..is that right, because i thought when looking at calc saying 9 something wraps it seemed a lot compared to orignal type coils which i find people say between 4-7....and what about spaced or micro coiling ?

On a subtank deck, Kayfun etc yes.... I have found a 2.5 dia coil with less more spaced wraps over the airhole gives me a better vape....more wraps less so. Without a slow motion camera watching the vapour in a glass atty the rest is waffle to why I think so....! Drippers, gens different ball game.

Spaced......You can suck though cotton so why not take the most direct route for flavour.
