Started this thread from a comment made by cigeliquid in the A (probably very silly) post-TPD question thread. I can't say I know a great deal about nicotine salt, and there does not seem to be much information about it. From what little I have read though it uses a higher strength of nicotine. The only one I have seen is the Juul, which uses 59mg nic liquid. Not available in the UK, so not seen or tried it. How will this fit with the 20mg restriction. It may give a better and smoother nicotine hit than traditional 'freebase' nicotine, but how is this going to be better. There do seem to be manufacturers in the UK starting to sell ejuice with nicotine salt, but all I have seen are below 20mg. What is the comparison between using 18mg regular ejuice compared to 18mg nic salt juice?

By "Nicotine Salt" do you mean crystallised Nicotine? I suppose yes is the answer to that, but appears to come in a dissolved state rather than crystals. I have tried to read about it, but there are few simplified explanations on the differences between the salt and freebase versions. There is a company in the UK that sell salt based ejuice, but at 18mg or less concentration. Mr Salt but they don't give much of an explanation on how the salt version differs in reality to regular nic base.

By "Nicotine Salt" do you mean crystallised Nicotine? Having read the brief bumpf it says 'natural salts found in the tobacco leaf' rather than (I would presume) lab made nicotine.

Would be interesting to be able to get this as the raw base to use in mixes.

I'm not convinced that this is a step forwards or way around the TPD regulations regarding nicotine strength. I've just been reading an article talking about the use of ammonia to change nicotine salt into freebase nicotine, which seems to be what the tobacco companies use to increase the nicotine yield in cigarettes. An interesting read and not too technical. HERE Anyway I can't see the reason why we would use nicotine salt. Apparently the Juul product uses benzoic acid to achieve the same thing as ammonia, ie get the fast nicotine hit with a smooth throat hit. I can understand why they use a very high nic content, as this is moderated by the smooth throat hit, which in normal vape juice would be intolerable. The vaper can get the instant nic hit associated with smoking, rather than the little and often method with regular vaping. However my understanding may be a load of bollocks and I have completely missed the salient points highlighting the benefits of nic salts vs regular nicotine base. I'm not a chemist so don't pretend to understand the chemistry behind all of this, so if we have any smart people it would be good to read a simplified explanation of the merits or otherwise of Nicotine Salt.

I had a google early and found this article.TBH I think this is just a way for the big tobacco corps to get there mucky fingers into vaping proper.
