What experience do you have at airports with vaping gear..??

Just want to ask what is the experience with airports over vaping gear...?

is it best to just take abit or buy it when you get there..

I haven't traveled for afew years, so don't know what you can and can't take through an airport.
i am not traveling to anywhere, just need to know for future... 
I can check which country's it is illegal to vape..

but its just at airports what's aloud...??

I went to Spain in the summer and had 2 mods, 2 tanks, a few premade coils and 150 ml of juice in 5x30ml unmarked bottles... no issue, no questions and i didn't even bother to unpack anything from my hand luggage. popped "in use" device on a tray alongside my phone, keys, wallet etc..

As always, check with the airport/carrier for specific restrictions (looking at you Exeter).

You can travel with vape gear, there are some limitations but nothing problematic!

Your mod and/or batteries and atomiser/tank need to be in your hand luggage, batteries need to be safely stored in a case and remember that tanks will leak due to air pressure so empty or store in own sealed plastic bag and these will need to go in the clear plastic liquids bag when passing through passport control.

Eliquid needs to be in containers less that 100 ml and also in clear liquids bag for passport control. They normally want to see your electronic devices separately (ipad, phone, kindle and any built in battery ecigarette) so when scanning put them loose in the tray going through scanners.

Things have changed a lot since I last traveled and I wasn't vaping back then only smoking.
Plus they were only business trips with one small hand luggage case with me..
Everything in one bag.
But holidays are different..

So clear bags for the vapeing kit and juice.
Do they have them at the airport or any clear ziplock bag will do..?

Sorry if it's sounds like I'm a dum ass. But I feel I need to know this stuff. As I am super organised and part of the holidays is the traveling there without any hold ups..

some bottles have the skull & crossbone label on them. these are illegal as a banned substance so best to decant into clear bottles.
the sealable plastic bag can be bought at airports but they can rip you off as ive seen 2 bags in a kids toy ball machine for £2
as picture above all your liquids have to go in that bag as well as gells, creams liquid mediation so not a lot of room.
ive found 30ml or 50ml bottles best but the max size is 100ml
rules are changing weekly so its always best to check with airport website and aviation carrier before you fly.
tanks and bottles will leak under pressure. i leave tanks empty and put selophane over the nozle of each bottle and then screw tight.
Ryanair have just changed their wording on ecigs as a few weeks ago they were banned on board but that has been changed after a complaint about wording so now allowed in cabin but of course not used.

Having recently flown a few times out of Heathrow the rules are:

Mods without batteries, tanks and juice can go into checked baggage (double wrap filled tanks/juice in ziplock bags in case they leak)
NO LITHIUM BATTERIES in checked baggage - this is in case they vent.

for carry on baggage
Juice in 100ml or less bottles must be in the clear bag (max 1 litre total)
mods with built in batteries or batteries inserted this also includes Battery packs
spare batteries must either be in those plastic boxes or have the contacts taped over with insulating tape

one word of caution on any filled tank you take in carry on bags, pockets etc, cabin pressure can make them leak, if bottom air flow, turn them upside down and put them in the seat pocket in front of you until you land.

PS I vape regularly in the airport both landside and airside - it's a matter of being discreet and not blowing huge clouds in the air, or in front of the security people

I almost had a 100ml bottle of juice confiscated at Exeter too a couple of weeks ago, but I slipped into the conversation with the security bod that it was zero nic (it wasn't, but only 1mg!) and he grudgingly let me take it through.
Don't understand this, Newquay and Gatwick (to say nothing of the three return airports) haven't batted an eyelid.

Next time I fly from Exeter I will pack my juice in my hold luggage and use a small tank instead!

I personally have not had any issues. I have flown both within the EU and to the states without any complaints. I always put my tanks and liquid in the clear plastic bag and I believe batteries have to be in hand luggage so if there is an incident it can be resolved quickly. I think as long as you keep them packed properly then you should get little to no hassle. The biggest issue I had was when I took three mods with me and the x-ray operator had my bag searched, but I'm glad of this because I'm sure they looked a little suspicious with all those wires inside! Security first and all that.

I had a couple of amusing comments....

Flying from Gatwick to Manila (I had 5 x 100ml DIY juice) - "Wow - that's a lot of juice" (Indeed....) - although I made sure rather than writing "Atom blast" on a bottle of brightly coloured liquid I went for "fruit mix".....

Internal flight - Davao City to Manila - (admiringly) "Wow - you've got 3 mods!" (Yes, I keep breaking them, but that's another story...)

I came through Hong Kong in 2016 (which supposedly had a vape ban...) with no problems - but my leg was in plaster at the time and the staff were absolutely awesome

The "Exeter thing" is very annoying - I almost think with UK airports it might be which member of security you get on which day - bit of a gamble, I guess

I must admit I don't understand Exeter Airport's stance on vaping gear, or more specifically e-liquid. The larger airports are all fine about it, but Exeter specify that all 'nicotine refills' are banned.
I would love to hear from anyone who can explain this policy - it is the airport's, not the carrier's, so it all gets a bit confusing!

I fly all the time. At least 20 international flights a year.

Try to empty your tank as much as possible before the flight. If that isn't possible, then close the flow control, if possible, and wrap in some toilet roll, then pop in sealed plastic bag, then in hand luggage. That should keep it safe from leakage, at least from the rest of your hand luggage.

I keep EVERYTHING in hand luggage. I make my own e-liquid so it's usually in a self-marked 100ml bottle. Put in with the rest of the liquids in the plastic bag (which to be honest, is only the eliquid and the tank). I then switch the mod off for going through security, but leave it loose in the tray with my jacket and stuff. Never had a problem doing it this way.

On the other hand, my flights are usually to Norway, and they ban ecigs offshore there. So booooooooooooooo. I also have 200-400 cigs with me, and abandon my ecig stuff in the mobile phone lockers at the heliport when I get the flight to the rig. If it wasn't for that, I would never smoke another cigarette again.
