Dementia tends to be hereditary, so if your kids have it, then there's a possibility you'll get it too. Or is it insanity you inherit from your kids? Both probably.

Apparently there is now more money spent on vibrators and viagra than on dementia research. Soon the retirement homes will be full of randy old folk who've forgotten what to do about it

There's an increased risk of Alzheimer's and senile dementia with vaping. At least, there's an increased chance of living long enough to get them. Mr Clive Like others have said there is some evidence OUT THERE that nicotine aids dementia sufferers , I can't immediately link to it but I have seen evidence there are a number of studies out there that are trying to establish if there is any proof in this at the moment. As for health risks with vaping I am of a belief that until long term studies have been undertaken (I'm talking between 20 and 50 years ) you can't rule it out, as electronic cigarettes have been around less than ten years we won't be able to rest on our laurels for a good while yet ....... BUT six months plus of vaping have shown me that I no longer cough when I laugh , although I still smoke a wee bit smokers really STINK!, and my fitness has now improved so much that I am undertaking a challenge to raise money for charity (see the tiny weblink at bottom of my signature ) . So there are risks with vaping we really don't know what its doing to our bodies but the benefits I've seen so far far out weigh any risks , and in my book is definitely a risk worth taking ... I think a lot of us when we start vaping secretly want to hear that vaping is bad for us so we can go back to our beloved ciggy's , but after a while you realise that if you can't give up old nic, you can get by without the rest of the baddies

Without being complacent . . .
Speaking as someone who merrily chugged away on 40/50 cigarettes a day and would still be doing so, were it not for ecigs.
If there are shown to be any health risks from the ejuice we vape, then it's a calculated risk that I'm more than happy to take.

We could all get paranoid about the tap water we drink, food additives, mobile phones, microwaves, artificial sweetener, corn syrup, gm foods, alcohol, solar flares, car fumes.... Where did I leave my tin-foil hat? I agree with Perp, its a calculated risk that is based on personal choice (over smoking). There is an awful lot of crap that we have no control over.

If that's aimed at me, I'm an electrical contractor, not a journalist. While on the health risk subject, I just filled a new 3 ohm cartomiser and within half a dozen puffs it tasted burnt, you know the taste I mean. Is this bad for me? Is it a duff cartomiser? Does it just need more juice? I've topped it up and it has improved, just suck it and see?

There were a few journo's sniffing around on UKV a little while back. You probably have not filled it properly in the first place, or if using a VV device are vaping at too high a voltage, probably the first, they need to be kept wet. Is the burnt taste bad for you? What do you think FFS, you are vaping on burning wick/wire. If you keep vaping on said wick/wire it may well give you a sore throat and make you feel sick, so don't do it.

Anyway, it's not VV it's a Riva 1100, cartomiser is ( I think) a boge item. It doesn't seem as bad now, so I'll just keep it topped up and see how it goes. What is the expected life-span of these? Is a constant burnt taste the signal to bin it? I've not binned any yet, as I'm still a noob, I'm trying lots of different flavours and as such have about half a dozen on the go at the moment, still looking for the perfect taste.

Mr C For the first fill, you are best doing the condom method (not as bad as it sounds) I'll try to find a link. Then you need to keep them topped up, I always dripped some more in until it was wet after a vape session. Life span will vary, some bin after 2 or 3 days, I get about a week (in a tank) some claim longer. You will start to lose taste and it may be hard to draw on, you will probably be able to tell. They are cheap, so don't worry about binning them, don't try to make them last too long, it just spoils the vaping experience. It may be worth getting some standard 510 attys to drip different flavours into to try, you don't waste a carto full then if you have an orrible juice (as you will) Condom method, bottom of the page. allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=newmembers&thread=2349&page=1#74660
