0.16 mm wire has resistance of 53.7 ohm per meter..So 53.7/100=0.537 ohms per cm. So for 2 ohm coil 3.72 cm or 37.2 mm..
3 mm wick circumference is 2 x 3.1416 x 1.5 approx 9.5 mm. So three turns for 1.6 ohm or four turns for 2 ohm
Because penelope is big rebuildable, you want to be using 0.2 or 0.212 mm NiCr..Will give you more turns, hence better performance..
Alternatively, just wind your coil with 0.16 mm with 5-6 turns and bump up the voltage on the provari to suit..

TIM, if you make 1.6ohm coils for the provari then you're going to lose the ability to play with the voltage The whole point of the provari is the ability to fine tune the voltage to suit your coil. If as macca says the .16 resistance is as stated then a 4cm length will give a coil of 2.148ohms which will A, give you a few more coils and B give you some voltage range to play with. you're certainly not missing out on anything with a higher 2ohm coil, we only have LR because before VV the only way to get a decent performance out of atties was to use a 5v battery or a couple of 3:7v batteries together. Lower resistance atties were required so that ego batteries could perform as 5v batteries. You have all the tools you require there to fine tune your vaping experience to suit you personally

There is just one aspect which was not covered earlier and that's battery life..
Next purchase, go for thicker resistance wire.

Go for either the .2 wire or the .212 for the penelope, it'll allow you to use more wire for more coils but keep the ohms low Personally I use .2 Kanthal D, it's the wire I prefer and I get it from here www.buymywire.com Comes on the slow boat though If you want a meter or so of it ready for your hols then PM me your address and I'll send you some to sample

Is it necessary to temper/ anneal (whatever it is!) the Kanthal with a FG wick blakey?

Is it necessary to temper/ anneal (whatever it is!) the Kanthal with a FG wick blakey? I do dave, it removes any impurities and softens the wire to make coil winding much easier. You'll find the wire quite stiff and springy without tempering Just run a lighter flame over it till it glows orange, takes seconds
