ASH is not a democracy, to my knowledge, so a fifth column is a hard one to sort - although I do like the cut of your jib!! I'm hoping to be able to get Deborah Arnott, the current Director, on VT Talk - she's been making the right noises, but I want to gauge her commitment to THR as opposed to the usual "quit or die" approach.

Kudos - and you are so right - this is too important for anyone to think that "others will do it so I don't need to". It's only be strength in numbers that we can hope to avoid this disaster - if you haven't already contacted your MP and MEPs, anyone reading this, please do it today.

You're more than welcome... I'm not going to let this go until I've worn out every last avenue I can find and every last unce of strength I've oot - it's too important.

You and me both - these beggars know exactly what they're doing unfortunately, highly unlikely a lot of us would have the same success if we were limited to the sort of strength they're proposing You wouldn't at all, no, simply because the the background level of plasma nicotine they're basing it all on is only just higher than what you would achieve with a Moussaka drenched in Tomato Sauce..

I've invited Martin onto VT Talk - don't know whether he'll come, but as he's one of my local MEPs, he may well do.

We're covering this at some length tonight on VT Talk - Clive Bates, former Director at ASH UK will be my guest, and he knows better than most what the effective strategies are. 9pm at www.vapourtrails.tv/?page_id=41 - This is probably one of the most important shows I've ever done.

+1 with knobs and bells and whistles on. If nicotine had always been delivered in nice mugs with a fothy top, nobody would ever have had anything to say about "cutting down". If you aren't burning tobacco, that's all you need to worry about. It would appear that the folks on here that are cutting down their nic levels to zero are saying two things. Firstly that by reducing their nic intake to nothing but continuing to vape, that the physical side of smoking is satisfied. Secondly, that by vaping zero nic juice, that they do not need nicotine any more. Personal experience of smoking for over 50 years and stoping smoking many times through just about every method under the sun, has taught me that the giving up smoking is the easy part. It is the staying stopped that is the really hard part. This can be backed up by several studies done over the years about the high percentage of those that stop smoking but are back on to it within 2 years. The last time I stopped, I was off smoking for 18 months. I didn't want to start again, but when faced with a situation where I either smoked to calm myself down or ruined a family holiday, well a couple of packets of fags wouldn't harm me, now would it? Wrong! So while I applaud the efforts of those who are trying to stop smoking by vaping e-juices on an ever decreasing nicotine level, please be wary. This course of action will have to last at least two years, possibly longer. Personally, as long as nicotine is the only harmful susbstance that I intake, that I am no longer coughing, stinking of cig smoke and generally worried that I may set fire to myself or my house, then I will vape my way to Valhalla on my 25mg juice and forget that I ever attempted to do the impossible, for me, and tried to quit smoking.

Yeah, it's kinda an inhaler, but produces an aerosol (as e-cigs do) which may or may not include a visible manifestation with some warmth. Since Laugesen at al went public about it, there have been very few details released, so nobody really knows what the actual experience will be. To my knowledge, though, it's nothing like the plastic tampon inhaler. Tis ok, i found it myself. It's a inhaler. I hope it is not the same thing i was given a while back when admitted to a hospital in Harrow because it was so bad i nearly choked on it.

Old news, really... BAT as a business has bought out Intellicig/CN Creative, and is also in cahoots with Kind Consumer via Nicoventures developing the Nicotine Pyruvate alternative which isn't an e-cig, but is part of what Murray Laugesen was involved with at the start of 2012. Not sure what you mean by "on our tails" - but they could be a very good ally during the difficulties we'll face with the EU come February 25th. We'll be covering all of this on VT Talk at www.vapourtrails.tv starting Jan 9th, when I'm hoping to have Gerry Stimson, Clive Bates and Deboarh Arnott on the show - serious times ahead.
