As above torx t6, I fully disembled mine to strip the paint off and polish the aluminium body. I flattened the button a few months ago by sliding it back and forth with a bit of pressure using a small flat head screw driver.

Yes, two coils of the same resistance connected in parallel will yield an overall resistance equal to half that of one of the coils. This applies whether you make two individual coils and then connect them in parallel, or twist two wires together and make one coil with the doubled up wire. I watched a video recently were an American guy made a micro coil by laying 3 wires side by side and wrapping them around a needle ... he did 8 wraps but this resulted in an 24 wrap coil. Cheers! I knew someone would come to the rescue. To drop the resistance on my evods(2 Ohm), I believe I need to use .25 or .3 wire. So will I need to go the other way, .15 for the protank III? I would like 1.8 approx. Cheers.

No just .2 kanthal, and making the coils the same as I would on a evod. 5 turns gets me about 2 Ohm on the evod. Does 2 coils parallel half the resistance? I know twisting 2 wires together on a single coil has that effect, but this was my first go at twin coils. Now your asking. Normal dual coil halves the resistance but parallel doubles it it i think. Hang it it cant if yours are coming out at nearly 1ohm then it must half phil. Ah so confused right now. Sent from my Galaxy Note 2 Hopefully when the rest of the country wakes up someone will clarify that for us. Works lovely on my diy mechanical, but my vamo and mvp said no!

I haven't tried the PT II, but I won a PT III at a vape meet. I love it. Its really fiddly to recoil, and the Ohms readings are really low (1-1.2). I think I'll have to get some different wire. They work great on a mechanical. Are you using res/non res wire phil? Sounds great Alan. "The bridge" has great views. I am more than happy to contribute, I don't think you should be left out of pocket.

Great venue Alan, I've been to 2 work do's and they used to do a comedy club too. They also have seperate areas/bars. Right next to Embankment tube station too.

I joined Hack Space on Wednesday, my membership was confirmed this morning. I went down to get my Oyster Card put on their entry system so I can use the use the place 24/7. Even more impressed! Worked on a couple of mods, helped a guy work on a bed for his barge, was given a great soldering lesson, and had a fiddle with the laser cutter/etcher. It was hard to take it all in on my initial tour so I didn't notice the fully stocked nuts, bolts, screws, washers etc. all included with your membership. Also stacks of wood off cuts to help yourself to. Great helpful friendly group with a range of skills (electricians, artists, carpenters, engineers, scientists, computer geeks) In their lounge/commonroom they have an hacked arcade machine that they have named "The Beast". It has 400 games on it. I look forward to many more interesting afternoons down there.

Visited Hack Space London yesterday, will be joining this week. You pay what you think is fair, £5 min, £20 recommended per month. Your Oyster Card is then registered on their computer and gives you 24 hour access 365 days a year. There is no supervision, so everything is on a trust basis. With a very simple set of rules. They ask that if you've never used equipment before to read up on it or ask another member. Lathes, laser cutter etc require training, so you put your name down for free. Your Oyster Card will then give you access once trained. Apart from that you can use everything in the fully equipped metal and wood workshops, electronics lab, library, sewing room and laptops to use on site. There is even a couple of mad scientists with a bio lab doing scary genetics stuff. I also spotted a darkroom. The tools range is very impressive, including pillar drills, milling machines, lathes, band saw, chop saw, router bench, hand power tools (sanders, drills, dremels, router), and a full selection of hand tools. The only rules seem to be a) Don't kill yourself, b) tidy up after yourself. There seems to be a lot of skill sharing going on. If a member is struggling with something, then others lend a hand. I am meeting up with a guy on Thursday to give me a basic soldering tutorial. He makes his own pcb's from scratch. A great place for anyone wanting to make a mod, mod stands, or anything else. A guy was making the frame for a sofa while I was there.
Phil.

Hi, I am about to set out on my first attempt(s) at a diy mod, as I don't have many tools I have been holding off starting until I collect what I need. Today I came across Hack Space London. I think they have places in Leeds, Bristol, and maybe more. They are a nonprofit making organisation that started off in the states. I think you pay a monthly membership then you can use their workshops as much as you like. They have electronic, wood and metal workshops. Plus 3D printer and a laser cutter.
I was wondering if anyone had used their facilities, and if so what their expierience was like.
Cheers,
Phil.

I've just put myself through the ordeal of posting on UKV so that seniorphil would see it and I come back on here to see he's joined us ! Just in case anyone's wondering he doesn't look anything like his avatar ! I had presumed it was a pic of him but apparently it's just some comedian. Don't listen to a word she says. That is me and I carry that block of wood with me at all times!
