Only just seen this BC and I'm totally shocked at their complete disregard for her safety, thank heaven the orphanage were able to take her in.
I sincerely hope she stays safe and when she returns home she is able to publicly name and shame them.

This is a truly horrible story. The upside is that with modern technology she can at least keep friends and family updated and let them know she's safe

I'd heard many stories about charity money being badly spent or fiddled out inthe bush, so this doesn't come as a great surprise. What's needed is a list of verified and vouched-for charities who don't employ charlatans and crooks out there (and just as importantly, employ competent individuals at this end).

Glad of the good outcome - just had a friend out there on a 6 week nurse placement - she loved it, apart from she had her bag snatched (an un-snatchable bag apparently) - and lost her iPhone with it.
Had a friend in Uganda to, with a VSO placement - that was quite worrying as they had armed guards at the accommodation and during transport too.
A real shame charities / companies are allowed to operate like this, I think they should all be public and have every financial record public also!
