Absolute horror story

My friend is in Ghana at the mo during voluntary work, she paid a volunteer company for her trip, in their details she was paying for her trip, her accommodation and the rest of the money was to be given to the orphanage where she was working, it turns out that they haven't given anything to the orphanage for a long time. My friend was upset and disputed this, so did they do the honourable thing

No they didnt. They threw a 24yr old girl, travelling alone out of her accommodation !!!!!

Luckily the orphanage took her in and she is staying there until she returns home.

The company have now given some money to the orphanage.

I am incensed they would put her out of her accommodation, I don't think Ghana is very safe and am looking forward to hearing she us home safe

What a worry, she is very young! May be worth geting in touch with the local Rotary Club as well? They do a lot of work in Africa and have a lot of contacts!

So sorry to hear about your friend and hope she gets home safely. A lot of these gap year type charities really annoy me, they charge ridiculous fees, take almost a third of it in "admin" fees and are profiting from people's good nature, that's just the recommended companies, what happened to your friend really is awful

That is so terrible to be treated like that in a foriegn country! I hope she is home safe very soon! I'm honestly shocked!

It is the thought if putting a young girl out in the streets, they said she was the worst volunteer they had ever had ( because of the money dispute) the orphanage don't agree!! The children are all very happy and well cared for but they live in a place where money goes a long way, I am very proud if her for making a stand but phew everyone will be relieved when she is back .
