Any recommendations? I do not hear well (in fact have two hearing aids) but have to take at least one out when I'm on the phone.
I need something with BIG numbers and letters now. And to be portable. I am able to take the hearing/mouthpiece off base of one I have now, which I find very useful. And it keeps sweaking and buzzing.
Just had a conversation with someone in Ireland and had to keep saying can't hear you etc - please shout at me..................
So I think the time has come.............Not too expensive though!! Nor too clever.
A basic, easy to use affair please...................... :-[ MMa

I'm afraid I can't help, all the phones we've had I have a job hearing people on them....it gets on my pip, our latest is a panasonic one which is supposed to be better on the hearing front and it's worse than our last bt one. I hate making official calls on it....hope you find a good one, you'll have to let us know if you do.

Hi Macca, The Freestyle 701 looks good. I will sleep on it (not literally!) and have another look in the morning. I see it says 'inductive coupler' (for use with digital hearing aids). My aids have batteries, so I guess they are not digital!!! Now, don't laugh at this old lady..................!!! Magicma xx

All hearing aids have batteries as far as I know.. Inductive means you switch the hearing aid to the T position ie., telecoil, and it will cut out all other noise and you will hear only what is coming through the telephone's induction loop..Your hearing aid should have little switch to switch to a T position..Most modern one's do. You can also switch to this position wherever this sign is displayed: Once you have completed the telephone call, you switch it back to normal amplification position. It's got nothing to do with if the hearing aid is digital or not.. Edit add: Some good info here: www.bt.com/includingyou/calling-easier-hearing-aid.html

My aids are a very basic National Health one. 'Impact M' Siemens.
My eyes are tired now so will have good look around tomorrow. Your link ^^^^ looks very interesting.
When I was given these, nobody actually explained anything. I will have a good read up tomorrow.

Macca - I've had a good read of the link etc. I have read and re-read my manual. I do N0T have 'T' position.
Yes, your link is very interesting and one or two things may help me.
The little manual I have covers 3 different models: Impact M, Impact DP and Impact DSP. Mine is No 1, Impact M and doesn't do as many things as the others.
On the day I moved to my new flat (Sept 2011) I lost one of my aids and couldn't find it anywhere. I had to wait till about a month ago for a new one and had to pay £60.00 for it although I am National Health!
I am going off to order one of the BT 710 telephones now.
Thanks for your help. MMa

Hi Macca, I went off to order phone from your link first link post #3 above. I was filling in the forms on the site when I decided I didn't like their name - 'jamdup'.
I Googled them and read the reviews - not good reading. I had a look at other places as well - same results - iffy!! MMa
So I will now go and order from the BT link. Cheers MMa

Just looked at a review on the BT one which is okay but says the volume control is not good enough for the hard of hearing!!! Think I'll give up for tonight!!!

Dunno where you read that magicma..My mum uses it and she is hard of hearing and finds it very good... Not too sure about the Impact M series..Seems to be NHS specific but I did read that it has automatic telecoil recognition..I would just go to Argos and ask to see it and buy it if you like the look of it and try it out...It's only a fiver more but you have the option of returning it in 15 days if it does not work for you..

Macca, It was a review on the item. Seems the volume switch only went up to 5 when his mum needed a 10!!! Everything else was good. Don't know what to do - I hate going out shopping!!!! Anyway, I think I will go for the Argos one - delivered. I've had a good read up about it. Thank you for being patient with me. MMa
