HI Everyone, Newbie here looking for a little advice.... I have been considering mixing a little of my own e liquid for a while now, I have looked at lots of websites regarding making my own but thought why not ask the real experts hence my asking your advice.
I wont be using any nicotine (to start with) only PG with a touch of flavouring...Mint,Strawberry, Menthol e.t.c
My question is: is it as simple as it sounds just PG (good quality) add the flavouring and that's it or am i missing something??. Also if i wanted to add a little VG say 80 / 20 for more vape would i need to thin the VG down or would it be ok as it comes?. As i say i have read a bit about it but think its best to check before attempting. Thank you in advance, Lady12.

Hello Lady12 and to AAEC If you're not using a nicotine base then broadly you are correct with the following recommendations: Use BP grade PG & VG Falvourings should be of the type suitable for Vaping, not one's bought from a Supermarket etc. VG does not always need to be thinned, some are thicker than others, some PG's are thicker than others. It also depends on what you're going to use the liquid in. It will be a matter of trying to see how your mixes come out. If you do need to thin the liquid a few drops of Vodka or distilled water is what most people use. Let us know how you get on, good luck!

Try adding 10% flavouring to your pg/vg base at 1st. maybe try 2 drops vg, 7 drops pg and 1 drop of whatever flavouring into a condom. Seeing as there is going to be no nicotine, you could try actually tasting a little on your tongue. or add couple of drops in an atty. Whatever you do, its going to be easier with no nic. EDIT for my stupidity.

Hi Lady,
If you are not too worried about the amount of vapour produced then there is no rule that says you can not just use PG, PG tends to carry fruity flavours well and could be used as the base, however, I would recommend that you add just a little VG to create a better vape cloud.
PG gives a little (very mild) throat hit, VG is sweeter and to my mind more mellow. I would try a 20VG/80PG mix to start and see how you like it.
Flavours are mostly (but not always) PG based, so calculate that in to your mix.
Some supermarket flavourings can be used, read the labels, the thing to look out for is that they are PG, Water or Alcohol based, No Oils. For example Lemon usually is oil based, so not suitable.
Supermarket flavourings are a lot weaker than the specialist ones sold at e-cig outlets etc. A good range of flavours are made by Lorann and marketed as “Candy oils” a contradiction in words as most are oil free…. Once again, read the label.
VG can be purchased from chemists or Boots etc, just make sure the label says BP. It is sometimes thicker than e-cig purchased VG, but you will be diluting it with PG so no need to add extra thinning agents such as vodka. But a drop of Vodka can give a little more throat hit if you like it.
It is going to be easy for you without the nicotine, as you can just add more flavour if it’s too weak, without reducing nic levels. Start at about 5-10% Flavour and see how you go, add more if required.
