if you do use a tooth brush dont go at it too hard or you may remove the oxidised layer on the wick To be honest I didnt find the toothbrush thing worked. You can't get round the back. I started to think a recoil was in order. But will defo give this method a go. what tooth paste did you use ??

Good tutorial frogster. The only thing I would add is that it might be worth giving the wick a quick blast with the blowtorch before putting it back. Yep, for sure, I always do that when I am at home and have my trusty gas hob to hand... But 99 times out of a hundred, it happens when you are out and about or at work and don't have items to hand.... "meant as a "on the fly get it working type fix". But, I agree with you, always best to do if you can.

Good morning All, Well the did is up and running after a lot of blunders last night!!!!!!! First can I ask is Nickel Chrom 0.20mm o/k for the coil??? Second , can the draw be made more lighter,??? on my penny i have the bottom post out a tad more than suggested and I love the light draw, Third, the ro is reading 1.1. is this O/k,?? thanks for your patience.

work towards 1.8 ohms plus (longer coil), 0.2 wire is fine - Do you have Kanthal no resistance wire?, Making the airhole larger will improve airflow slightly but produce much more vapour, Your ohms will increase slightly through use , but best to head for 1.8 for the lower voltages and 2.8ohm for the higher voltages. longer coils of no resist wire.

Skwoddy, It doe's not say if its no resistant wire But i also have 0.20mm silver which should i use, I will remake the coil with more winds when you advise which wire to use. Thanks.

use resistance wire John ...if you have different gauges then try them out and see which you prefer... i prefer a larger gauge

John, I drilled my airhole out a bit on my DID, I much prefer it now, but don't do it unless you are prepared to buy a new cap if you don't like it. I use 0.20 on it and my reading on the Provari is 2ohms with 4 twists on the coil

Cheers Gordy, How was Ireland? I lived in the South for 25 years untill 6 years ago when we moved back here. Tell me how do you tell the differance between no resistance and the resistance wire.

Ireland was lovely, the beer was great and the company was fantastic i guess the only way to tell between the wires would be with a multimeter to test the resistance

John, this is what I noticed- If I twist the coil around the centre pole without a nut holding it on the ohms will be different to a nut on, so you could fiddle there a bit to see, I have left the nut off once or twice when it was doing my head in.
On my SMG I have 5 twists and have a reading of 2.5

dont squish the nut down too tight or it will squish the wire and increase the resistance
