I think I promised to post a few pics next time I had to do a dry burn of the coil on one of my DID’s. All juice will eventually junk up a coil, reducing flavour and vapour production. NEWSFLASH ! You don’t need to build a new wick or a coil, simply follow the pictorial guide below:- This is a pretty gunked up coil (allowed to get this bad for demonstration purposes)… Step 1Gently remove the wick with a slight twisting motion, trying very hard not to disturb the coil… Step 2This will leave you with the gunked up coil in place, like so… Step 3Next, gently and in short bursts, fire up the device, until you obtain an even orange glow over the length of the coil, burning off gunked up deposits… Step 4This will leave you with a relatively clean and functional coil, almost as good as the day you wrapped it… I fired it a few more times after this pic, just to clean it a tad more... Step 5Now slide the wick, very gently, back into the coil, with a twisting motion, again without disturbing the coil. If, you do squash a wrap, you can open it back up again with a toothpick etc. Note the arrow on the pic below, this is where the wire terminates on the centre post, there is still a little junk on the last little bit of wire, don’t try and get it all… I find that this helps insulate that last little bit of wire, this is a notorious hot spot and it eliminates it… Bonus! Hope that helps some of you….

Good tutorial frogster. The only thing I would add is that it might be worth giving the wick a quick blast with the blowtorch before putting it back.

I'm willing to bet they would have a nut to fit, failing that nip into b&q. You could use it at the bottom of your centre post which only prevents the post from going back into the tank section, I'll bet it's a standard euro thread

The more i look at that bliddy Avatar the more it has to go.

Ok mate upto you, seems a bit harsh to cut furniture up for a nut, I would find a replacement personally, modders do it daily Don't wanna ruffle the mrs's feathers

Get a strong magnet and sweep that around if you can't immediately find it, and a torch.

Nice tutorial thanks. And there was me thinking an old toothbrush would work. if you do use a tooth brush dont go at it too hard or you may remove the oxidised layer on the wick

You can't get round the back. I started to think a recoil was in order. But will defo give this method a go.
