Before he used to only be able to eat real cheap complete food and i felt sorry for him So looked at getting something that would settle his stomach, after lots of different foods and a very squirty dog we tried the sardines in tomato and like i say works a treat. Each week now he can have sardines, eggs including the shell ( shell is good for bones ) chicken, he has a couple apples as he loves them, liver and a few other bits Not bad for a dog that could only eat webox

Well tbh since getting our dogs which we rescued they have always kind of fascinated me, the way they act and seem to know things. And because of this ive spent many hrs researching on line about all kinds of stuff, and years ago they used to give tomatoes to dogs to help there stomachs, so thought id try and it worked. The sardines were away of getting some good protein into the diet and some oils.
A dog agility school that we attend occasionaly even advices the sardines in tomoato sauce after they saw the difference it made with our dog.
Maybe best to give him one of the sardines out of the tin to start with say half the sauce, do that twice a week then if ok you could give a little more, if its a small dog then may not need much more anyway. But the cod liver oil should be fine to

Half a tin twice a week for couple weeks should be fine then whole tin. Its only my opinion and i hold no responsibility and the cost of new carpet is down to owner of dog #icon_rofl#
Honestly i think he will be fine

Karma,
I don't suppose you've considered putting him (the dog, not hubby) onto a raw diet? It really sorted out my dog's dodgy tummy. He has raw meat with some bone, raw eggs, tinned pilchards/sardines, 10%offal, and I supplement with omega3/6 capsules, fresh fish when it is cheap enough.
If your dog suffers from IBS symptoms then adding a handful of oats might be useful.

Glucosamine has recently been found to have no significant effect over a placebo, chondrotin (which it's often combined with) does help, but it has to be taken in large doses over a long period and it isn't cheap. My previous dog had severe spondylosis and arthritis and few pain medications ever worked. The thing that was most effective was steroids, but there are other health problems associated with using them long term

Mine have garlic as well, does wonders, I give my two garlic once a week, great for keeping the parasites away never had fleas and only had to remove one tick in six years Just in case anybody doesn't know... "Garlic in large amounts can be poisonous to dogs" but a small amount can be very beneficial..

Sorry but it's just not true that garlic or onion are safe for dogs even in small quantities, they can cause severe anaemia in dogs, and if you're regularly giving them small doses you are putting them at greater risk than an occasional cheese & onion pie
