I've just recoiled and rewicked Penelope and got her adjusted nice and tight and I have a nice tight draw The coil I made is a bit high at 2.7 ohms, but she seems to be vaping well at 4.5v, hopefully she'll get better with a bit of use. Here she is : I am a relatively happy bunny now.

Nice des, well done. Regarding to much air in the draw, What were you doing wrong out of interest?
I was getting too high an ohms reading, but the difference in length of that resistance wire can make huge differences I found. You'll need to get the tape measure out. A teenee bit long is a big difference aswell of course a the joins.

A teenee bit long is a big difference aswell of course a the joins. I had the center post too long out the bottom, it's flush now and working fine I metered out the resistance wire before attaching the no res, I left it a bit over for the joins but I did not use as much as I thought to attach the two wires together, it's still showing 2.7 ohms on the Provari, but that's no biggie, I can just up the voltage. Screwed the juice flow right down and only needed to open it a gnats todger to get the right flow, I am using quite a thin Cherry Menthol E-Liquid from Paradise Vapes in it. The throat hit is definately more pronounced in the Penelope compared to my other devices, still not quite enough vapour but I am sure that will come.

I have laid the -ve wire in the SS channel with it bent over and doubled and 1 x turn around the wick and this is giving me a good connection. It's much neater than my last effort, I found heating the wick with a blowtorch gets rid of the funky initial taste as well and I annealed the coil resistance wire first as well to make it more pliable. I should have taken a photo..........

I always temper the resistance wire in a lighter flame first and all you need to do with that negative wire is make sure it sits behind the wick, I've never had a dodgy connection yet

I always temper the resistance wire in a lighter flame first and all you need to do with that negative wire is make sure it sits behind the wick, I've never had a dodgy connection yet The first coil I ever made i just laid the NR wire behind the wick and when I re-assembled it it was metering out at 35 ohms! so I then trapped the wire using the retainer ring (which I know is wrong). That is why I wrapped it round the wick the next time.
