I don't think you will blow the battery with 1.8 but to be on the safe side with a Riva I would go for the higher resistance.I used one of my Riva's on the lower resistance for a while,and in the end the wire inside came away from it's joint because of the extra heat being used at the lower ohms.So to be on the safe side,I would stick to the 2.4.
