I've been a nail biter since my teens, tried to stop last year but had a rat who did the job for me (loved giving me manecures but was slightly over zealous) and so nail biting resumed (to tidy up the rough edges she left...soon got back into the habit). This year knowing I'll be having a wedding last year I've again attempted to stop, and been really looking after them every day. My fingers are all taking their time to grow (despite using Sally hengson miracle growth) but oh my thumbs were beautiful. Well you've guessed it. I managed to break one today! It's still longer than it used to be but about half the length it was!!! Am gutted but Chris being a man doesn't understand. So ladies - I need your sympathy!

That's an ambulances and sirens job, that is! I spend half the year with no nails at all, and half the year with nails of a decent length. I don't know why, but it happens every year. Right now, my nails are quite long. However, one broke about 3 weeks ago, and one of my thumbnails is currently held in place with superglue, as it's split so low down that if I just filed it off it would be really painful, so I'm trying to hang onto it till the break grows out a bit. By Christmas I'll be back to stumps.....

Kickit if it't generally this time of year it changes I'd say the weather is to blame the cold Autumn/winter months are really rough on nails, try some moisturising nail cream daily....
Thanks for the sympathy hehe
And Ouch to that split!!!

I wish it were that simple, Ratfinkz. I reckon I've got more nail treatment stuff in my house than Boots. Nothing works. The best stuff I've found is Mavala nail strengthener in a tiny bottle. If I had shares in Sally Hansen I'd be rich...I think the real answer is that I need to spend the winter in the Caribbean. Which is so not going to happen.

I'm the opposite me, I hate having long nails. They grow so damn fast. And my sexual orientation demands that I keep them short. (TMI?) As does my job - don't wanna scram some old ladies thigh pulling her pants up. I think it is both gross and lovely that you used to get your rats to chew em for you, ratfinks.

Same as that kickit, I've had my thumb nail glued for the last two weeks while it grew long enough so that the split was slightly above the nail line and could be filed. It's still so short that its made my nail go all red but at least it's not split anymore. The perils of being a woman!

The best thing I found to grow nails is jelly, any kind of jelly or jelly sweets Great excuse to eat sweets I feel for you, never bit my nails but they break all the time and just won't grow - its obvious i'm not a big jelly fan then....

Lol booblay it was more a case of not being able to stop some of them, especially Silly Millie she was to determined, and enjoyed it so much how could I say no? Also she was so gentle about it if I was cuddling her while engrossed in tv I'd look down to find a very ragged looking nail and a very accomplished looking rat...
Good luck to everyone else with nail problems, I do find Sally henson's stuff really good...will have to invest in some different products of hers I think and some moisturiser myself...

I'm with you booby, as a florist/balloon decorator I need to keep my nails pretty short but of course, sods law dictates that they grow superfast. It appears they're governed by the same hormone that controls my waistline!

Lol Pinkerbell! I wish I had that problem....my waistline and nails are acting completely independently of one another!
