It is 3 months ago today that I went 100% vaping and I have not touched a stinky since. Up until I stopped I was on 40+ fags a day. I smoked stinkies from my teenage years and I am now collecting my old age pension and I reckon I have learned more about these in the past 3 months than in the previous 50 years!
But more importantly, I have realised that I no longer need them because there is a perfectly healthy alternative and others have explained these benefits elsewhere.
For me E-cigs greatest benefit is their cost, or rather their savings. Thanks to these, I have just added £4611.82p+ to my annual pension as well as a wonderful new hobby.
So, for the benefit of others, here is how these savings pan out.
I have kept a strict record of the costs of everything I have bought in the last 3 months on equipment and ready made e-juices, some of which I have disliked and given away and some which is still in use and will be for a while yet, but all included in these costs. I have also included the chemicals and equipment I have recently purchased and that I am using as I drifted into the Mixology branch of my new hobby.
So, total spend for my first 101 days (3 months);- £538.24p. Equipment, e-juice, accessories still in use or unused;- £322.07p. Savings on cigarettes not purchased;- £1492.32p.
Good as these figures are, they are not the complete story and my monthly bank statement is rising steadily as the months go by. You see, each day when I went into the village store to buy my fags, I invariably bought more than just the ciggies and now, as I have no real reason to shop there daily, my shopping is more organised, thoughtful and frugal and so more money stays in the bank to be better spent later on.
Suddenly and almost as if by accident, we are looking at a newer car, a holiday abroad, money spent on fairly major redecoration in the house and a whole myriad of projects that would have been out of the question on our pensions 3 months ago.
Yes, all of these benefits could also have happened if I had stopped smoking, but I have tried many times in the past to do so and always failed, so any long term future planning on the basis of stopping smoking were always doomed to failure. Now I can plan long term and know that by vaping, I will continue to enjoy my nicotine AND my new found wealth.

Savings? As of half an hour ago I'm £11.54 down! I did however decide to get a Provari, and a rebuildable early as I could see myself getting a Lava Tube, then a ZMax, then a [insert shiney name here] and then finally getting a Provari. I just thought I'd cut out all the middle men early. Having said that apart from the initial outlay, I can already see the costs dropping significantly to just "running costs". Well apart from wanting to try DIY mixing now

If nothing else persuades newcomers to pack in smoking and take up vaping, that wonderful story will. Thanks for taking the time to share with us Lobey

This is my favourite kind of post. I really enjoy these success stories and they are an inspiration to newbies or anyone struggling with the switch from fags to vaping. Well done Lobey

I can relate very much to that, started young at 8 and finished when I was old at 63 and like you have been saving every week. I put £50 cash in my "Rewards" box each week and the weekend before last I opened it up to put another £50 in to make it £200 (Only been vaping for the last four weeks) and thought it would be a good idea to take a pic of it on my phone as a further reminder if I ever start getting the old feeling of buying a packet of fags. Last Sunday, in went another £50 and this Sunday will be another £50 bringing it up to £300. I have already booked our holiday to Madeira next year for 2 weeks which will all be paid for by not setting light to some old dried up leaves and breathing the smoke in, how cool is that!! Loads of other benefits too like health etc but when you can physically see the savings (that's why I don't put it in the bank) it makes it seem so much real. Graham

Thanks all.
Ofcourse these costs were way back at Noon!!! Several hours have passed since then and I have been back online drooling over more chemicals and equipment, but hey ho, that can go into the next 3 months of costs, so I guess they don't count!!! #icon_thumbsup#
