Your best bet is to join the National Market Traders Federation Membership includes up to 5 million of Public Liability Insurance AND 5 million of Product Liability Insurance. As well as a range of other benefits. I am sure that a broker will not be able to get you a better overall deal. www.nmtf.co.uk/index.php?id_cpg=6

The National Market Traders Federation were not offering membership to traders selling electronic cigarettes a month ago and I don't think they have changed their stance.
Membership cost of £102 includes insurance and their brokers refused to offer cover.
You cannot be a member without their insurance ???

Lynn, as you have an online shop, you do need to apply for vendor status - PM either myself or a moderator giving a link to your website so that it can be checked out.

Andrew Lynn sent you a pm As I had nothing better to do I went through the online membership thing for the NMTF up until payment stage and at no point did it seem to worry about the product? And I can find no terms or conditions relating to this, so unless the membership is manually vetted at some point and declined I can't see an issue. One of the branches of the company I work for handles the insurance for the NMTF (although I know nothing specific about it) so if you'd like me to ask the person in charge of it what the position is regarding insurance is let me know.

It is manually vetted, as are all insurance policies that don't fall under standard categories. It then falls on the underwriters to make the final decision. Those underwriters take no prisoners

Yeah but it's just a package - join up and the insurance is automatic. So unless the actual membership is manually vetted, the insurance won't be, I don't think. I'll check what the mechanics are next week.
But you're right on the no prisioners bit.

i don't think they do product insurance for online sales, so unless you already have that, and need the little bit extra to get you on a market, i don't think this will interest anyone. and if you do already have that, your current broker ought to be able to get you market insurance tagged on easily. [note: i'm being lazy with the terms here, but u get the point]

I applied for NMTF online and paid my membership fee.
A couple of days later I had a phonecall from a lady who said they were rejecting my membership because their insurers would not cover elecronic cigarettes and I would have my membership fee refunded.
I asked if I could become a member without their insurance and she said no.
I was prepared to visit their offices and discuss but was told that insurance was part of the membership package and there were no exceptions.
I recieved my refund in full and have arranged insurance elsewhere.
